Pay Range: $135,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year

The above reflects the anticipated annual salary range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey.

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

Directs the hospital-wide Quality, Safety and HRO initiatives. Serves as the lead and coordination efforts for our quality programs, high reliability journey, safety behaviors, and patient experience. Monitors hospital goals and public reporting measures. Assists hospital leadership in the planning and implementation of tactics, methods and work plans. Identifies areas of opportunity for improvement, champions the development of policies and procedures. Assists leaders in the management and follow-up of safety events and ensures timely responses while identifying trends; will serve as an electronic incident reporting administrator. Serves as an internal consultant in education and training for HRO behaviors and encourages employee recognition and engagement. In collaboration with leaders, mentors and grows the safety coach program. Represents RWJUH Rahway as the liaison for quality and experience system meetings and strategies.

Qualifications:

Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience with quality improvement, quality management, NJDOH patient safety reporting and HRO behavior
  • Certification as Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) or achieved within two years of hire


Preferred:
  • Master's degree
  • 5 years experience in a nursing within the hospital setting

  • Adheres to budgetary guidelines and targets-proactively manages budget variances and causes
  • Determines priorities and organizes work and time to meet them
  • Follows sound employee retention techniques; effective selection and interviewing, recognition, fair and timely discipline, and ongoing performance feedback
  • Interacts constructively, tactfully and diplomatically with others and resolves conflicts effectively
  • Demonstrates cultural competency and ability to maintain a diverse workforce
  • Completes tasks and assignments in a timely, accurate and efficient manner
  • Remains positive and focused despite obstacles and setbacks
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency in completing assignments
  • Organizes multiple assignments and/or projects simultaneously to accomplish goals
  • Facilitates cause analyses, ACAs/RCAs and proactive risk assessments in collaboration with key stakeholders
  • Plans and conducts meetings with department leaders to review trends and strategies to improve quality, safety, and the patient and employee experience
  • Serves as a lead for the safety coach program and coaches
  • Mentors and develops new coaches as they are recruited
  • Meets monthly with safety coaches to strategize and implement programs
  • Supports the CMO and CNO in organizing data and activities
  • Supports quality leadership in organizing data and activities related to Leapfrog and USNWR submissions
  • Proactively assesses quality and safety performance as it relates to publicly reported metrics and CMS stars (e.g., PSIs, HACs)
  • Analyzes all data available such as HCAHPS, Verge Data, Comment reports, etc. to make the necessary changes in the evolving healthcare industry and adjust to the trends
