Position Summary:

Reports to the deputy director. Directly supervise the secretary II, advanced career training coordinator, academics manager, career technical training manager, and nursing director. Responsible for the coordination and management of academic programs, career technical training, testing, career preparation program and nursing in compliance with government and management directives.

Essential Functions:

1. Plan, coordinate, and supervise the administrative and programmatic activities of the career training services directorate.

2. Evaluate staff performance, provide staff training, and recommend and implement department and personnel changes to the center director and coordinate departmental goals for the performance year.

3. Assist in the preparation of departmental budget; monitor and control expenditures.

4. Assist in the development and implementation of new and revised policies and procedures affecting academics, career technical training, and nursing.

5. Develop and implement procedures, systems and curricula for academics, Career Development Services System (CDSS) and career technical training departments; develop, implement and maintain a collaborative system of communication between academics, career tech, and center staff, and outside community services to facilitate student progress and performance.

6. Provide oversight for the industry council for appropriate career technical training programs.

7. Oversee the scheduling system to ensure adequate assignment of staff resources and balanced class loads; monitor class absentee rates and take appropriate corrective action.

8. Monitor center outcome measurement system (OMS) performance measures; ensure all reports, records and documentation is maintained as required.

9. Complete 100% of all required training as this impacts performance evaluation.

10. Ensure directorates have their staff complete 100% of all required training as it affects their performance evaluation.

11. Ensure maintenance of a department training tracker is kept up to date for auditing purposes.

12. Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other center customers.

13. Participate in student employability programs and activities.

14. Support, promote, and enforce center zero tolerance policies.

15. Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.

16. Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices.

17. Cultivate and maintain a climate on center which is free of harassment, intimidation and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree and three years related experience, two of which should be supervisory. Experience with youth, excellent written and verbal communications skills and computer proficiency required.
