Full Job Description
Job Summary
The Director of Product Management, Residential Shingles, is responsible for the strategic leadership and lifecycle management of the core Residential Shingles product category to grow revenue and profit. This pivotal role drives growth and profitability through product strategy, new product development, cost-optimization initiatives, and expert market analysis. The Director will lead and mentor a high-performing team of Product Managers with accountability for the overall residential shingles portfolio, fostering professional development and cross-functional alignment with Sales, R&D, Finance, Operations, and Supply Chain to maintain a robust innovation pipeline and competitive value proposition. This position is based in our Parsippany, NJ corporate headquarters which currently operates on a hybrid in-office schedule. Though employees are welcome to work in our office on Friday, this position must be performed in-office on Monday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely from the employee's home office on Friday.

Essential Duties
  • Own the strategic product management and multi-year product roadmap for the entire Residential Shingles portfolio.
  • Drive complete product lifecycle management, financial results optimization, and cost savings initiatives to achieve growth and profitability for the segment.
  • Lead the New Product Development (NPD) process, overseeing line extensions and new product launches from ideation to commercialization.
  • Define the portfolio and products’ vision and value proposition; analyze industry trends, engage with the voice of the customer, and identify market gaps.
  • Work cross-functionally with key company groups including Sales, R&D, Insights, Finance, Supply Chain, Outsourcing, Planning, Quality, and Customer Service to achieve objectives and business alignment.
  • Develop marketing messaging and collateral, including brochures, technical product data sheets, and web content, and represent the portfolio at industry and trade shows.
  • Mentor and provide guidance, feedback, and educational opportunities to the direct reports (Product Managers), ensuring the team maintains subject matter expertise.

Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree required (preferably in an engineering, technical, or business discipline).
  • Minimum 12+ years experience in product management or a related discipline, with at least 5 years experience in the building products industry.

General Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strategic Vision & Portfolio Leadership: Sets the long-term strategic vision for the entire product portfolio, ensuring all roadmaps align to achieve the company’s highest-level business objectives and drive profitable growth.
  • Customer Insight & Product Strategy: Champions a customer-focused culture by directing high-level market and customer research (Voice of Customer) to define and prioritize the product roadmap and validate market opportunities.
  • Financial Stewardship & Accountability: Drives data-driven decision-making, owns measurable business outcomes, and demonstrates strong financial acumen for post-launch accountability to ensure intended business value is realized.
  • Cross-Functional Quarterback: Serves as the cross-functional leader, driving action, eliminating systemic roadblocks, and aligning partners (R&D, Sales, Supply Chain) to execute the unified vision.
  • Team Leadership & Mentoring: Builds, mentors, and ensures the collective effectiveness of the product management team, focusing on scaling capabilities and fostering a culture of ownership.
  • Strategic Innovation & Foresight: Creates an environment that inspires novel solutions, anticipates future consequences and trends accurately, and develops competitive, breakthrough strategic plans.
  • Influencing & Negotiating: Skillfully negotiates in tough situations and influences across organizational boundaries to resolve conflicts, secure strategic support, and gain commitment from key stakeholders.

Qualifications Preferred
  • MBA or Advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • Engineering background and/or experience with manufacturing.
  • Strong financial acumen, including P&L management experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of GAF’s products.
  • Proven presentation, communication, and project management skills; and advanced interpersonal skills.

Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Base salary and/or rate of pay ranges listed are exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Individual compensation offers will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, relevant candidate experience and skill, education, and/or qualifications.

Base Salary Range: $160,000-$220,000
