Full Job Description
The Director of Product Management will lead product strategy, portfolio governance, and product management excellence across a broad enterprise software portfolio. This role is responsible for shaping the strategic direction, investment priorities, and lifecycle decisions for approximately 45 master products across 8 lines of business. This leader will manage a team of Product Managers and Product Management leaders, working closely with Development, Sales, Marketing, Client Success, Finance, Operations, and executive stakeholders to align product priorities with client's needs, market opportunities, and business outcomes. The role also requires practical AI fluency to help the Product Management team improve productivity, accelerate analysis, and make faster, data-informed decisions. The Director will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, bringing clear recommendations on portfolio strategy, product investment, roadmap priorities, product rationalization, modernization, acquisitions, and long-term growth opportunities. Your Impact • You will shape the strategy, investment priorities, and long-term health of a broad enterprise software portfolio. Your work will help the organization make clearer decisions on where to invest, modernize, simplify, rationalize, or retire products. • You will also strengthen Product Management excellence by coaching leaders and Product Managers, improving planning and decision-making practices, applying AI tools to increase productivity and insight generation, and raising the standard for strategy, execution, market understanding, and executive communication. What the Role Offers • This role offers the opportunity to lead product strategy and governance at portfolio scale, shaping investment decisions, modernization priorities, and lifecycle strategy across a broad enterprise software portfolio. • You will partner with leadership on portfolio planning, annual planning, product reviews, funding recommendations, and product rationalization, including recommendations to simplify, consolidate, modernize, or retire products where appropriate. • You will also lead and develop a Product Management team, helping strengthen product discipline, decision quality, and alignment between client needs, market insight, roadmap priorities, and business outcomes. • The role provides significant cross-functional influence across Product, Development, Sales, Marketing, Client Success, Finance, Operations, and executive leadership, with a clear mandate to simplify complexity, improve portfolio focus, and drive measurable business impact. It also offers the opportunity to shape how Product Management uses AI to work more efficiently, synthesize information faster, and improve decision quality. Key Responsibilities • Lead portfolio strategy, planning, and governance for approximately 45 master products across 8 lines of business. • Define investment priorities by evaluating client needs, market trends, competitive dynamics, financial performance, strategic fit, and product health. • Recommend growth investments, modernization priorities, product rationalization, consolidation opportunities, and end-of-life decisions. • Establish clear portfolio prioritization frameworks to guide funding, roadmap trade-offs, resource allocation, and lifecycle decisions. • Lead or participate in Portfolio Review Boards, Product Reviews, Annual Planning, Executive Staff discussions, and other strategic business forums. • Ensure product roadmaps align with business strategy, client priorities, market opportunities, and development capacity. • Lead, coach, and develop a team of approximately 16 Product Management professionals, including 2 to 3 people managers. • Strengthen product management practices across strategy, roadmap quality, client insight, business case development, and executive communication. • Champion practical use of AI tools across Product Management, including AI-assisted research, documentation, competitive analysis, roadmap analysis, client insight synthesis, business case development, and decision support. • Partner with Development, Finance, Sales, Marketing, Client Success, Operations, and executive leadership to align strategy, execution, and business outcomes. • Develop and review business cases for growth initiatives, modernization efforts, acquisitions, platform investments, and portfolio optimization. • Engage with clients, partners, analysts, sales teams, and client success teams to validate priorities and inform product decisions. • Communicate portfolio performance, risks, dependencies, trade-offs, and recommendations to senior leadership. How Success Will Be Measured Success in this role will be measured by the leader's ability to improve portfolio clarity, decision quality, business alignment, and product management effectiveness. Key measures include: • Clear portfolio strategy, priorities, investment themes, and lifecycle decisions across products and lines of business. • Stronger investment decisions supported by client insight, market evidence, financial analysis, and business cases. • Better roadmap alignment between client needs, business priorities, development capacity, and executive expectations. • Improved portfolio health through clearer growth plans, modernization paths, simplification efforts, and retirement recommendations where appropriate. • Stronger Product Management practices across strategy, roadmap planning, client discovery, business case development, and executive communication. • Clear evidence that AI tools are improving Product Management speed, quality, and decision-making, including faster synthesis of client, market, financial, and product information. • Effective leadership, coaching, and development of Product Managers and Product Management leaders. • Strong cross-functional alignment across Product, Development, Sales, Marketing, Client Success, Finance, Operations, and executive leadership. • Improved visibility into product performance, risks, dependencies, and investment trade-offs. What You Need to Succeed • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related field; equivalent practical experience will also be considered.. • 15+ years of experience in Product Management, Product Strategy, Portfolio Management, or a related discipline. • 5+ years of people leadership experience, including experience managing managers. • Experience leading complex enterprise software portfolios or multi-product product organizations. • Strong understanding of portfolio strategy, investment prioritization, roadmap governance, and product lifecycle management. • Strong business acumen, including the ability to evaluate market opportunities, financial performance, competitive position, and strategic investment choices. • Experience developing business cases and making funding, prioritization, and resource allocation recommendations. • Practical proficiency with AI-assisted tools to improve productivity, analyze and synthesize large volumes of information, and support faster, data-informed decision-making. • Proven ability to influence executive stakeholders and lead cross-functional initiatives. • Strong client and market orientation, with the ability to translate client problems into clear product priorities and measurable outcomes. • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational leadership skills. • Ability to bring clarity and action to complex and ambiguous business environments. Preferred Qualifications • MBA or equivalent advanced degree. • Experience in enterprise software, information management, SaaS, cloud, or platform businesses. • Experience using tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Microsoft Copilot, or similar AI-assisted platforms to improve Product Management workflows, research, documentation, analysis, or decision support. • Experience leading product modernization, portfolio transformation, or strategic planning initiatives. • Strong understanding of financial planning, investment evaluation, and portfolio governance.
