Job Description

Care.com is looking for a Director of Product - Marketplace to lead one of the company's most strategic product areas: connecting families with the right caregivers-and helping caregivers find the right opportunities.

This leader will own the end-to-end marketplace fulfillment experience across both sides of our marketplace. From how families create jobs and discover caregivers, to how we match supply and demand, rank search results, and expand caregiver supply beyond today's marketplace, you'll shape the experiences that determine whether our marketplace succeeds.

This role sits at the intersection of marketplace strategy, AI-driven matching, search, recommendations, and customer experience. You'll partner closely with Engineering, Design, Data Science, Marketing, Operations, and Analytics to improve marketplace liquidity, increase successful hires, and unlock new sources of supply that help more families find care when they need it. We're looking for a product leader who is deeply customer obsessed, highly analytical, comfortable making strategic bets, and excited to solve complex marketplace challenges at scale.

What You'll Be Working On
  • Own the Marketplace Fulfillment Strategy: Define and execute the product vision for helping families successfully find and hire caregivers while enabling caregivers to discover and secure meaningful work. Develop long-term strategies that improve marketplace health, liquidity, and customer success.
  • Lead Matching, Search & Discovery: Own the experiences that connect families and caregivers, including job posting, search, recommendations, ranking, AI-powered matching, and marketplace discovery. Continuously improve relevance, speed, and quality of matches across web and mobile.
  • Expand Marketplace Supply: Develop innovative approaches to increase caregiver availability beyond today's marketplace. Partner across the organization to identify new supply channels, onboarding experiences, partnerships, and product capabilities that increase choice and improve fulfillment for families.
  • Drive Product Execution: Lead cross-functional product teams from strategy through execution. Define roadmaps, prioritize investments, write product requirements, and partner with Engineering and Design to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
  • Use Data to Improve Marketplace Outcomes: Define and own the metrics that matter-from marketplace liquidity and successful hires to search quality, application rates, caregiver engagement, and customer satisfaction. Leverage experimentation, analytics, and customer research to continuously improve outcomes.
  • Champion AI-Powered Experiences: Partner with Data Science and Engineering to incorporate AI and machine learning into matching, personalization, recommendations, and marketplace optimization, ensuring customers find the right care with greater confidence and efficiency.
  • Influence Across the Organization: Build alignment across Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, Operations, Customer Experience, and executive leadership. Clearly communicate strategy, priorities, and results while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and customer obsession.

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of product management experience, including significant experience leading teams and complex customer-facing products.
  • Experience building and scaling marketplace, search, matching, recommendation, or discovery products.
  • Proven success defining product vision and translating strategy into measurable business outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of marketplace dynamics, including balancing supply and demand, improving liquidity, and optimizing conversion.
  • Experience leveraging experimentation, customer research, and data to inform product decisions.
  • Passion for applying AI and machine learning to create better customer experiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and executive stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Excellent communication, storytelling, and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
  • Experience with two-sided marketplaces, consumer products, subscriptions, or commerce platforms is strongly preferred.
