What you'll be doing

As Director, Procurement Operations Governance and Control, you'll be at the forefront of protecting and enabling CIBC by strengthening governance, controls, operational discipline, and regulatory readiness across all procurement activities. You'll lead a dedicated team that ensures procurement processes are well governed, consistently executed, risk-aware, and aligned with internal policies, control standards, and regulatory expectations. Your role blends operational governance, compliance, risk management, training, stakeholder engagement, regulatory liaison, dispute resolution, and continuous improvement. You'll collaborate with diverse internal partners-including Legal, Compliance, Risk, Finance, Technology, and business stakeholders-to drive operational excellence and support CIBC's strategic objectives. By fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and proactive risk management, you'll help shape the future of procurement operations at CIBC.

How you'll succeed

  • Governance, Controls & Risk Management - Lead the design, execution, and ongoing enhancement of procurement governance and control frameworks. Identify and mitigate compliance and operational risks, ensuring processes align with enterprise standards and regulatory requirements, including supporting TPM360 and building out a Data Management framework.
  • Monitoring, Auditing & Regulatory Support - Oversee audits and monitoring routines, coordinate procurement-related evidence, documentation, and responses for audits, reviews, and regulatory requests, and maintain ongoing compliance with changing regulations.
  • Reporting, Documentation & Continuous Improvement - Develop and maintain procurement policies, procedures, dashboards, and management reporting. Drive continuous improvement initiatives by leveraging data, automation, and standardization to enhance quality, speed, compliance, and stakeholder experience.
  • Training, Stakeholder Engagement & Dispute Resolution - Train staff on compliance requirements and best practices, partner with internal stakeholders to ensure effective controls and timely reporting, and investigate and resolve compliance-related disputes or issues.
  • People Leadership - Manage, coach, and develop a team of procurement operations professionals responsible for governance, controls, reporting, regulatory support, Business Managed Technology, ESG/Third Party controls, Records Management, Procurement Market Research requests, and managing Procurement Policy renewal, Methodology, and Supplier Code of Conduct. Set clear priorities, performance expectations, service standards, and development plans that align with procurement strategy and enterprise risk objectives. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and proactive risk management while allocating resources effectively, monitoring team capacity, and ensuring timely delivery of key governance and operational control deliverables.
