Description

About the role:

We are looking for a highly experienced and visionary Director, Power Attainment to join our Silicon Engineering leadership. This is a pivotal, high-impact where you will shape the power efficiency of our next-generation processors.

As the manager for the pre-silicon power team, you will be responsible for building and guiding your direct reports. In parallel, you will serve as the global technical domain owner for all pre-silicon power activities. You will be the ultimate authority setting the technical strategy and orchestrating execution across our geographically distributed teams. Your leadership will be the driving force that ensures our products achieve their aggressive power targets and set new standards for performance-per-watt in the industry.

What you'll achieve:
  • Team Management: Directly manage, mentor, and cultivate a world-class US-based pre-silicon power engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation and execution excellence.
  • Global Domain Strategy: As the technical domain owner, define the global strategy, roadmap, and execution plan for power modeling, analysis, and convergence across all projects.
  • Innovate on Power Reduction Features: Partner closely with Architecture and RTL design teams to define, specify, and drive the implementation of novel power reduction features and methodologies from concept to tape-out.
  • Drive Technical Execution: Spearhead the definition of critical test scenarios and benchmarks required for accurate power analysis. You will govern the cross-functional coordination to secure essential activity collateral (e.g., FSDBs, SAIFs) from Design Verification and Emulation teams.
  • Govern Power Budgets & Convergence: Collaborate with executive leadership to establish power budgets. You will own and govern the end-to-end power convergence process, holding all teams accountable for meeting their targets.
  • Champion Methodology & Infrastructure: Drive the strategic evolution of our global pre-silicon power analysis methodologies and infrastructure, ensuring best-in-class automation and analytical capabilities across all sites.
  • Influence Cross-Functional Design: Serve as the definitive power expert and consultant to Micro-Architecture and Physical Design leaders, influencing critical trade-offs and design decisions to achieve optimal power results.

About you:

Your career must demonstrate a clear progression into roles of increasing strategic scope, including both people management and cross-functional technical leadership.
  • Proven Technical Leadership: A distinguished track record of technical leadership on complex SoC/CPU projects, with multiple successful tape-outs where you were directly responsible for power attainment.
  • People Management Experience: Demonstrated experience in direct people management, including hiring, career development, and performance management for a team of senior engineers.
  • Matrixed Environment Success: Proven ability to lead and influence geographically distributed teams in a matrixed organization, driving technical alignment and results without direct managerial authority.
  • Technical Authority: Deep, authoritative expertise in modern power reduction techniques (advanced clock gating, power gating, DVFS, etc.) and their architectural implications.
  • Architectural Acumen: Strong command of CPU and SoC architecture, with an ability to analyze complex workload characteristics and their power implications.
  • Hands-On Analysis & Tools: Mastery of industry-standard power analysis tools (e.g., Spyglass, Power Artist, Joules, PrimeTime-PX) and methodologies for RTL and gate-level analysis.
  • Automation and Scripting: Strong programming skills (Python, Tcl) for automating flows and data analysis.
  • Electrical or Computer Engineering - Bachelor's degree & 15 years of related experience; or Master's degree & 12 years; or PhD & 8 years
