Full Job Description

About the role

The Nuclear Company is searching for a Director of Platform Integrations to own the full technical breadth of our platform - from the foundations of backend architecture and data pipelines to the frontier of AI agent development and LLM training. This is a senior, high-ownership role for a builder-leader who is equally comfortable whiteboarding a data ontology, reviewing a CI/CD pipeline, and shipping a unified front-end interface. This role reports into the Head of NOS.

You will work on backend data and platform architecture, own CI/CD, front-end unified interface, application and data integrations, platform performance, platform maintenance, LLM training, Al agent development, data ontology, MCP design, and computational design.

You'll define how our systems talk to each other, how our data is structured and made useful, and how intelligence gets embedded into every layer of our platform. You'll lead a cross-functional team and work closely with product, data science, and domain experts in nuclear engineering to shape a platform that's fast, reliable, and genuinely cutting-edge.

Responsibilities

Platform & Integration Strategy
  • Define and own the integration architecture across internal systems, partner APIs, OT/IT interfaces, and external data sources (grid operators, regulatory bodies, sensor networks)
  • Build and lead a team of integration engineers, data engineers, and technical program managers
  • Establish standards for API design, data contracts, event-driven architecture, and interoperability across the platform
  • Partner closely with Product, Infrastructure, and Data Science to align integrations with product roadmap priorities

AI & Machine Learning Integration
  • Collaborate with the ML and Data Science teams to embed model inference into real-time and batch integration pipelines
  • Design data flows that feed predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, and operational optimization models with high-quality, low-latency inputs
  • Champion ML-readiness in integration design - ensuring data schemas, event streams, and partner feeds support model training and continuous learning loops
  • Evaluate and integrate third-party AI/ML services and tools where they accelerate platform capabilities

Technical Leadership
  • Drive adoption of modern integration patterns - event streaming (Kafka, Pub/Sub), API gateways, service meshes, and data mesh principles
  • Define and enforce SLAs, observability standards, and reliability practices for all integration surfaces
  • Navigate the unique compliance and security requirements of the nuclear energy domain, including NRC standards and cybersecurity frameworks (NERC CIP, IEC 62443)
  • Represent the integrations platform in executive and board-level technical reviews

Experience
  • 10+ years in software engineering or systems architecture, with at least 3 years in a senior technical leadership role
  • Proven experience building and owning complex, multi-system integration platforms at scale
  • Strong foundation in API design, event-driven systems, and distributed architecture
  • Hands-on familiarity with AI/ML pipelines - understanding of how models are deployed, served, and maintained in production environments
  • Experience working with industrial or operational technology (OT) systems, IoT sensor data, or real-time control systems is a strong plus
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence without direct authority

Benefits
  • Competitive compensation packages
  • 401k with company match
  • Medical, dental, vision plans
  • Generous vacation policy, plus holidays

Estimated Starting Salary RangeThe estimated starting salary range for this role is $198,000 - $228,000 annually less applicable withholdings and deductions, paid on a bi-weekly basis. The actual salary offered may vary based on relevant factors as determined in the Company's discretion, which may include experience, qualifications, tenure, skill set, availability of qualified candidates, geographic location, certifications held, and other criteria deemed pertinent to the particular role.
