Full Job Description
JLL is currently seeking an experienced and dynamic candidate for the role of Director, Commissioning. As a Director, you will be responsible for leading and managing a Commissioning & Building Analytics (CBA) team, providing reliable, timely, and efficient support to our clients. This role requires a strong background in overseeing and managing complex commissioning projects across various sectors, program management, team P&L leadership, and business development. The successful candidate will have a proven track record, possess strong leadership skills, and excel at problem-solving and decision-making.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead, manage, and mentor a team of commissioning professionals, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities.
  • Oversee the commissioning process for various projects, ensuring adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and project goals.
  • Manage and execute commissioning projects from initiation to completion, including budgeting, planning, resource allocation, and risk management.
  • Drive profitability by effectively managing project budgets, resource utilization, and project timelines.
  • Collaborate closely with clients, build strong relationships, and understand their needs to deliver exceptional service and exceed their expectations.
  • Contribute to business development efforts by identifying opportunities, participating in proposal development, and presenting to clients.
  • Develop and implement strategies to grow and expand the commissioning business, capturing new market opportunities and driving revenue growth.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in commissioning.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations in all commissioning activities.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and excellence within the team.
  • Collaborate with other internal teams and stakeholders on cross-functional projects and initiatives.

Requirements:
  • A recognized university technical degree or equivalent. Engineering Degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in commissioning, with a strong focus on project/program management and business development.
  • Any combination of Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Building Commissioning Professional (CBCP), Certified Commissioning Process Management Professional (CPMP), Building Commissioning Professional (BCxP), or Certified Commissioning Authority (CxA) designations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and mentoring team members, providing guidance, and fostering professional growth.
  • Proven track record in successful project delivery, meeting project goals, timelines, and profitability targets.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to drive business development, identify opportunities, and win new projects.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong understanding of financial management, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • In-depth knowledge of commissioning processes, industry standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Proven expertise in testing mechanical and electrical systems, building management & automation systems, plumbing equipment and systems, lighting controls systems and normal/emergency power systems.
  • Expertise in the use of calibrated testing equipment used in the commissioning process, such as flow hoods, anemometers, pitot tubes, IR cameras, power quality analyzers, and various meters.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and build relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Ability to think strategically, analyze complex problems, and provide innovative solutions.
  • Proactive mindset, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing circumstances.

Desired:
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is considered an asset.
  • LEED AP certification is preferred, demonstrating an understanding of sustainability concepts.

Willingness and ability to travel internationally when needed to support global projects.
