Our Guardant Health Director, Oncology Therapy Selection Products reports to our Senior Director of Product Management and drives market evolution across Guardant Health's liquid biopsy therapy selection portfolio.

This is a pivotal role for a strategic and execution-driven leader who thrives at the intersection of product innovation, clinical impact, and commercial growth. You would own product strategy, roadmap execution, and commercial readiness for the Guardant360 Liquid therapy selection products. In addition, you would also shape how these high-impact diagnostics enter and expand within standard of care, accelerate adoption, and stay differentiated in a competitive liquid biopsy market. To be successful, this Director should have a strong clinical science foundation, alongside product management judgment and discernment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end execution of the Guardant360 Liquid and Guardant360 Liquid CDx roadmaps — new biomarkers and features, assay optimization, workflow enhancements, and indication/companion-diagnostic label expansion.
  • Serve as the clinical and technical subject-matter expert for the therapy selection portfolio, grounded in molecular oncology, biomarker-driven treatment decisions, and the practice of oncology.
  • Drive launch execution through phase gates and release readiness reviews; own product lifecycle and change-management activities across both the LDT and CDx offerings.
  • Translate strategic goals into executable plans with clear timelines, KPIs, and milestones tied to business outcomes.
  • Articulate the technical details of the NGS assays — workflow dependencies, automation, and data-pipeline impacts — and act as a liaison across product, engineering, bioinformatics, and operations.
  • Work cross-functionally with R&D, clinical development, regulatory, and quality to support CDx submissions and ensure compliance in regulated environments (IVD, CLIA, CAP, FDA).
  • Ensure products align with physician needs and payer expectations, delivering actionable results and demonstrable clinical utility for therapy selection.
  • Partner with biopharma stakeholders to align companion diagnostic development with drug programs, biomarker-driven trials, and precision-medicine objectives.
  • Engage oncologists, NPs, practice managers, and IDNs to understand therapy selection use cases; partner with Market Access and Medical Affairs on the evidence and reimbursement strategy.
  • Monitor the competitive liquid biopsy and CDx landscape and shape Guardant's product differentiation strategy.
  • Contribute to scientific communications and publications supporting the products' value proposition across tumor types.
  • Set clear people leadership expectations for the team, including coaching, performance accountability, prioritization, and development of talent to support business objectives.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires: ~15 yrs with a Bachelor's; 12 with a Master's; 8 with a PhD; or 5 with a PharmD/MD within life sciences, bioengineering, molecular biology.
  • Strong clinical science grounding and knowledge of clinical practice in oncology and biomarker-driven therapy selection is required.
  • Deep understanding of liquid biopsy and molecular diagnostics; familiarity with NGS assays and Guardant360 or comparable products is required.
  • Strong strategic thinking, execution of rigor, and cross-functional leadership is required.
  • Previous people leadership experience, including direct management of team members, coaching, performance management, and talent development is required.
  • 8+ years, including end-to-end product leadership is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of diagnostic assay workflows and regulated-lab environments (CLIA, CAP, IVD, FDA); familiarity with companion diagnostic (CDx) development and submissions is preferred.
  • Prior knowledge of the competitive/reimbursement landscape is preferred.

  • Demonstrate curiosity, sound judgment, and the ability to critically evaluate and responsibly leverage AI-enabled tools in accordance with company policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of work.
