Salary Range: $126,842 to $177,578Position Summary The Director of Supply Chain leads Y. Hata's supply chain function, with accountability for demand planning, inventory management, logistics, freight, and shortage resolution. This senior leadership role sets strategy, drives execution, and builds the capability required to support profitable growth. The Director oversees the Director of Purchasing and works closely with Category Management, Sales, Operations, Finance, and the Executive Leadership Team.
Essential Duties Strategic Leadership & Planning
- Develops and owns the supply chain strategy aligned with company growth, customer service, and working capital objectives.
- Leads annual supply chain planning including budgeting for inventory, freight, and operational expenses.
- Owns the S&OP process; ensures cross-functional alignment on supply and demand.
- Drives continuous improvement initiatives with measurable impact on fill rate, cost, and efficiency.
Demand Planning & Inventory Management
- Oversees demand planning to ensure accurate forecasts reflecting seasonality, promotions, and customer demand.
- Sets and monitors inventory health targets: days of supply, fill rates, and excess/obsolete thresholds.
- Ensures replenishment parameters reflect foodservice distribution realities - perishability, lead time variability, and seasonal demand.
Purchasing & Vendor Oversight
- Provides strategic oversight of purchasing through the Director of Purchasing; sets performance standards for supplier fill rate, cost, and delivery.
- Oversight of vendor scorecard framework; supporting escalation of supplier issues.
Logistics & Freight Management
- Leads freight and logistics team and strategy across all inbound and outbound shipments, including mainland-to-Hawaii ocean freight.
- Negotiates freight rates and carrier agreements; monitors freight cost per case.
- Partners with Operations on container planning and inbound freight scheduling.
Team Leadership & Development
- Leads the supply chain team including the Director of Purchasing, Demand Planners, and Supply Chain Liaison.
- Defines KPIs, performance standards, and development plans for each function.
- Identifies talent gaps; supports hiring and development in collaboration with HR and ELT.
Technology & Reporting
- Owns the supply chain technology stack including ERP, replenishment, and forecasting tools.
- Delivers regular performance reporting to leadership on fill rate, inventory turns, shortage trends, and vendor performance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Primary supply chain partner for Sales, Operations, Category Management, and Finance.
- Supports expansion and acquisition efforts related to supply chain alignment and operational readiness.
- Uses the Company's Mission/Vision Statements and Core Values as guiding principles in all decisions.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
- At least 7 years of related experience in Supply Chain Management, Business Operations, or a related strategic function to include demonstrated leadership responsibility. Minimum of 3 years of experience leading cross-functional teams.
- Strong vendor negotiation experience at senior or executive levels.
- Experience in the food distribution, consumer goods, or a related industry is strongly preferred.
- Candidates with experience in other high-volume, high-SKU distribution environments are encouraged to apply.
- Experience with ocean freight, container logistics, import operations, and island-market supply chains preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, including advanced level Excel skills.
- Experience with ERP systems required; experience with Clarity, Microsoft Dynamics, replenishment planning systems, or comparable supply chain platforms preferred.
