Full Job Description
Job Summary:

Provides a range of support and resources to students and teachers in the areas of special education, 504 coordination, English language learners, preschool, MTSS, social emotional learning, assessment and best practice teaching strategies. Supports school initiatives, systems and programs.

Qualifications:
  1. Valid Illinois State Board of Education Professional Educator's License
  2. Valid Type 75 Administrative or Director of Special Education Certificate
  3. Background knowledge in special education programming
  4. Background knowledge in English language learners/bilingual programming


General Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Planning and directing special education, El, and preschool programming, initiatives, meetings, staff development, compliance and budgeting.
  • Supervision and evaluation of special education staff and El staff.
  • Serve as the LEA in District special education IEP meetings.
  • Oversee the development of special education student schedules, services and IEP goals.
  • In collaboration with the building principal analyze test data, determine ways to improve

instruction and student goals.
  • Coordinate services for students who are in private placement.
  • Communicate special education services and programming with parents to help them gain a better

understanding of their child's IEP and special education services
  • Supervise and oversee the Preschool for All program.
  • Write and oversee various program grants such as Preschool for All, Title III and other applicable grants.
  • In collaboration with the principal work with staff to develop outreach to parents on various parent education topics.
  • In collaboration with the principal oversee MTSS initiatives, coordination and implementation.
  • In collaboration with the principal, support the District PBIS Coordinator.
  • Oversee and develop the schedules for the special education team.
  • Develop local policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Communicate and collaborate with Leyden Area Special Education Cooperative.
  • Collaborates with the school Principal and Superintendent on various special education initiatives.
  • Assist general education teachers develop successful differentiated learning opportunities for students.
  • Serve as the District McKinney-Vento liaison.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Perform the physical tasks necessary to monitor, supervise and physically assist students throughout the school day during a variety of instructional activities. Must be able to function effectively in an active, loud environment. Must be able to adapt to changes in the work environment as circumstances require.
