The role also leads payor contracting strategy-including negotiation, performance oversight, and development of pediatric-appropriate value-based arrangements-while managing key payor relationships and joint operating committees. As Treasurer, it holds ultimate responsibility for cash management, financial reporting to the Board, banking relationships, and safeguarding Fortify's financial integrity.

Communicate financial plans and performance updates to Fortify's Board of Managers and financial executives at Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters and UVA Health.

Oversee financial reporting, including actual-to-budget and year-over-year analyses prepared by the outsourced accounting firm.

Develop sustainable internal funds flow methodologies, chair the Funds Flow Workgroup, and build consensus among participating physicians, administrative leadership, and Class A Members. Present recommendations and decisions to provider groups, the Board of Managers, and Class A Members.

Serve as a strategic advisor to the Executive Director on staffing, vendor negotiations, expense management, and capital investments.

Oversee outsourced accounting and finance functions, including:
  • Accounting software implementation
  • Accounts payable, reconciliations, cash forecasting, and month-end close
  • Financial planning, analysis, and budgeting
  • Internal controls and procurement processes
  • Tax compliance and guidance

Contracting

Lead the development, negotiation, implementation, and management of payor contracts and contracting strategy with existing and prospective payor partners.

Identify opportunities for new agreements and renegotiate existing agreements to optimize performance and terms.

Collaborate with Fortify leadership to align contracting strategies with organizational initiatives and capabilities.

Manage payor relationships by leading Joint Operating Committees, serving as the primary escalation contact, resolving issues, and fostering relationships with key payor decision-makers.

Develop pediatric-focused value-based contracts and serve as Co-Chair of Fortify's Payor Contracting Committee.

Oversee contract performance reporting, actuarial consulting engagements, and reconciliation activities in collaboration with the Director of Informatics.

Treasurer Responsibilities

Maintain oversight of all funds, securities, receipts, and disbursements in partnership with the outsourced accounting team.

Provide financial condition reports to the Board as requested and perform all duties customary to the Treasurer role.
