Overview

The Director of Sales position is responsible for developing, managing and supporting sustained and profitable growth in sales of Peterbilt refuse and municipal truck products throughout Canada. The Director of Sales will be responsible for maximizing sales, market share and profitability while supporting the Brandt Peterbilt & T&T network, Territory Managers and key customers across these market segments.

What You Will Be Responsible For
  • First line of contact for the Branches for Refuse and Municipal Peterbilt sales opportunities.
  • Ensure all Brandt Peterbilt Branches are capable of effectively selling and supporting the applicable Peterbilt product line and vocational applications.
  • Participate with the VP of Sales and local Territory Managers in developing and implementing plans for growing Peterbilt Refuse and Municipal sales throughout Ontario and Saskatchewan.
  • Aid the sales team in achieving Peterbilt product sales growth by providing a high level of product, application, industry, customer, body builder and competitor knowledge.
  • Coordinate and participate in delivering ongoing product knowledge, application and vocational sales training for Territory Managers and Branch teams as scheduled.
  • Drive sales of Peterbilt Refuse and Municipal products through the Brandt Peterbilt dealer network while identifying target markets, key accounts and growth opportunities across Ontario and Saskatchewan.
  • Research and track competitor truck specifications, product pricing levels, activities, programs and tactics within the Refuse and Municipal markets.
  • Provide market intelligence and feedback to ensure Brandt's pricing, programs, inventory and marketing strategies are positioned to penetrate new markets and grow existing markets profitably.
  • Identify product, specification, body builder and application opportunities that promote differentiation, improve customer solutions, enhance market penetration and deliver increased profit opportunities for Brandt.
  • Provide insights and input on the right mix of Peterbilt inventory and chassis specifications to achieve sales and profitability goals across Refuse and Municipal product categories.
  • Assist with product line asset management goals including inventory turns, aging, demonstrations and protection of company assets.
  • Participate in end customer visits with Territory Managers and Branch sales teams as required, with a focus on strategic fleets, municipalities, refuse operators, contractors and vocational customers.
  • Extensive travel throughout the Ontario and Saskatchewan branch network, often alongside Brandt's sales teams, to actively support customer visits, demonstrations, major opportunities and key account development.
  • Establish strong working relationships with Branch Managers, Sales Managers, Territory Managers, Peterbilt representatives, body builders and key industry partners.
  • Ensure Branches are educated on all aspects of Brandt Sales, Service and Finance as they relate to Refuse and Municipal customers.
  • Assist Branches with sales and marketing opportunities including customer demonstrations, ride-and-drives, field days, open houses, municipal events and targeted industry campaigns.
  • Provide input into Sales Program Development for Refuse and Municipal products.
  • Provide input into Peterbilt product specifications, chassis configurations, inventory planning and product development based on customer and market requirements.
  • Assist in coordinating and attending trade shows, municipal conferences, refuse industry events and customer events throughout the territory.
  • Other duties as assigned.


What We Look For
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of commercial trucks, with experience in vocational, refuse and/or municipal applications considered a strong asset.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of sales, product management, fleet sales and/or technical support experience in the commercial truck, vocational equipment, municipal, refuse or related transportation industry working with manufacturers, dealers and/or end users.
  • Strong organizational, communication, relationship management and customer service skills are a must.
  • Knowledge of Peterbilt products, vocational truck specifications, body builders, municipal procurement and refuse applications would be an asset.
  • Capable of using standard business systems and computer applications including Excel, Outlook and CRM/reporting tools.
  • Aggressive team player, people person, self-starter and motivated towards achieving sales, market share and profitability goals.
  • A recent driver's abstract will be required.
  • Must be able to obtain or possess a valid passport and be able to travel throughout Canada and internationally as required.
