Full Job Description
Role Overview

The Director of Sales, Life Sciences is responsible for driving net-new revenue growth across pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, and CRO (Contract Research Organization) accounts. This role builds on Piedmont Global's recent acquisition of a life sciences-focused translation and localization provider, as well as on existing client relationships and past performance in the vertical, to establish a qualified pipeline of new business.

This is a hands-on, individual contributor role with direct accountability for Piedmont Global's life sciences sales motion, including account prioritization, solution packaging, and a defined first-year revenue target.

Key Responsibilities

Revenue & Pipeline Leadership

  • Own new business revenue targets for life sciences accounts, with a first-year target of $1.5M in closed revenue.
  • Build, manage, and convert a qualified pipeline across pharmaceutical sponsors, biotechs, medical device manufacturers, and CROs.
  • Drive full-cycle sales motions, from prospecting through close, for multi-stakeholder deals tied to clinical trials and regulatory submissions.
  • Draw on existing life sciences client relationships and past performance to open new accounts and expand wallet share.

Life Sciences Domain Expertise

  • Lead with working knowledge of GxP compliance (Good Manufacturing Practice, Good Clinical Practice, and Good Laboratory Practice), FDA, EMA, and PMDA regulatory requirements, and multi-country clinical trial operations.
  • Position Piedmont Global as a strategic partner for regulatory-grade translation, not a transactional vendor.
  • Speak credibly to validated workflow requirements, back-translation standards for informed consent forms (ICFs) and protocols, and the audit demands of Quality and Compliance teams.

Elite 8 Solution Selling

Sell across Piedmont Global's Elite 8 solutions with a life sciences lens, including:

  • Language Operations (LangOps): clinical trial protocols, ICFs, case report forms (CRFs), clinical study reports (CSRs), and regulatory submissions (IND, NDA, BLA, MAA)
  • ARIA: AI translation verification with regulatory-tier human review for FDA, EMA, and other submission-grade content
  • Staffing: bilingual Clinical Research Coordinators (CRCs), Clinical Research Associates (CRAs), and patient recruiters
  • Content Solutions: medical affairs, patient education, and HCP (Healthcare Professional) communication materials
  • Consulting: validated workflow design and global regulatory submission planning
  • Move buyers from single-project vendor relationships toward sponsor and CRO preferred-vendor panel placement.

Account Strategy & Stakeholder Engagement

Build relationships with key life sciences buyers, including:

  • VP/Director of Clinical Operations
  • Head of Regulatory Affairs
  • Director of Pharmacovigilance
  • Chief Compliance Officer and Quality leadership
  • Procurement
  • Develop account plans anchored to trial launches, regulatory submission windows, and vendor consolidation cycles.

Internal Collaboration & Revenue Discipline

  • Partner with Marketing, Solutions, and Delivery teams to ensure accurate scoping and validated-workflow execution.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline visibility and forecasting in HubSpot.
  • Operate with a disciplined, data-informed approach to pipeline development and deal structuring.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of B2B sales experience, with a track record of closing complex, multi-stakeholder deals.
  • 2+ years of direct experience selling into life sciences accounts (pharma, biotech, medical device, or CRO).
  • Working knowledge of GxP compliance, clinical trial operations, and regulatory submission timelines.
  • Proven ability to sell validated, audit-ready services rather than one-off project work.
  • Strong executive presence and ability to sell at the VP and C-suite level.
  • Comfort navigating long sales cycles and sponsor/CRO panel-vetting processes.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems (HubSpot preferred).

What Success Looks Like (First 12 Months)

  • $1.5M in closed life sciences revenue.
  • A qualified, healthy pipeline built on the recent acquisition's existing client base and past performance.
  • Established presence on sponsor and CRO preferred-vendor panels.
  • A repeatable sales motion that expands life sciences revenue beyond the initial client base.

This role has direct ownership over how Piedmont Global builds a durable life sciences practice, and where the division goes from here.
