We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Safety and Workers' Compensation to lead and oversee our organization's workplace safety programs and workers' compensation operations. This role is responsible for developing and implementing an enterprise-wide safety strategy, promoting a culture of safety and accountability, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing all aspects of the workers' compensation program.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and advance the organization's enterprise-wide safety program, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across all locations.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations, including Cal/OSHA requirements, through audits, inspections, risk assessments, policy development, and employee training initiatives.
- Oversee incident prevention and response efforts, including workplace investigations, root cause analysis, corrective action planning, emergency preparedness, and business continuity programs.
- Manage all aspects of the workers' compensation program, from injury reporting and claim administration through return-to-work coordination and claim closure.
- Partner with third-party administrators, insurance carriers, legal counsel, and medical providers to effectively manage claims, litigation, settlements, and cost-containment strategies.
- Analyze safety and claims data to drive organizational improvements, develop performance metrics and executive dashboards, identify trends, and implement proactive risk reduction and injury prevention strategies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Risk Management, Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in workplace safety, risk management, environmental health and safety (EHS), or workers' compensation administration.
- Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience managing safety or workers' compensation programs
- Experience overseeing workers' compensation claims in California, including coordination with third-party administrators (TPAs), insurance carriers, medical providers, and legal counsel.
- Experience developing and implementing organization-wide safety programs.
- Experience managing regulatory compliance, including Cal/OSHA requirements.
