A Day in the Life

The Director of Operations is responsible for all budgetary, people development and operations objectives to meet client's needs and create a positive overall experience. The Operations Director identifies areas to create operational efficiencies to maximize profit opportunities and liaises with Business Development for the integration of new clients and the growth of current clients.

What You'll Bring to the Role:
  • Highly organized, adaptable to changing priorities, and able to prioritize, meet deadlines and excel in handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent technical capabilities, inclusive of CRM and tier one WMS experience.
  • Experience in continuous improvement tools/methodologies to drive customer fulfillment, quality, efficiency, and safety is required.

The Must Haves:

  • Must have a minimum of 8 years' experience in a relevant senior leadership role.
  • Must have relevant experience working for either a 3PL company or an apparel and/or footwear company in a pick and pack environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business or related field is a plus.
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.
  • This position requires a valid driver's license.
  • Must have physical ability to carry out essential job functions, including but not limited to, the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., walking and standing for extended periods, climbing ladders/stairs, ok with heights in elevated areas and tolerating conditions such as dust, dirt, noise, odors, heat, cold, etc.

Things You Will be Doing

  1. Accountable for the overall performance of their assigned facilities/shifts, as defined by key performance indicators.
  • Maintains a perspective on the operational goals, demands and vision of the organization and prioritizes workloads with an understanding of this information. This includes throughput, quality and safety.
  • Makes required staffing, process, and facility changes or alterations to increase organizational efficiencies and meet client goals and NRI's service level agreements.
  • Monitors budgetary requirements for staffing and expenditures. Identifies financial variances and the business and performance metrics that drive them.
  • Creates and maintains meaningful relationships with Clients and NRI team members.
  • Determines feasibility of projects factoring costs, available space, schedule limitations, organization goals, technical requirements and economic factors.
  • Ensures resource commitments for projects are in place and acts as the sponsor to ensure that the proper level of support is in place for tactical execution of projects.
  • Accountable for budget and P & L for assigned facilities.


  1. Provides guidance to their direct reports (GMs, DC Managers of defined facilities).
  • Trains, develops and mentors all direct reports.
  • Sets expectations and facilitates resolutions of any gaps.
  • Participates in performance review process and approves any wage increases.
  • Plans, coordinates, and authorizes all annual vacations for Supervisors, ensuring proper coverage.


  1. Continuous Improvement.
  • Work with the leadership team to drive continual improvement programs.
  • Ensure that all projects include a sustainability component and drive adherence at multiple levels within the organization utilizing integrated process audits, floor-level dashboards and management scorecards.
  • Looks at space utilization for facilities and provides recommendations to increase operational efficiencies and drive profitability.


  1. Research / Analysis / Optimization
  • Analyze contractual commitments, Client specifications, design changes and other data to drive continuous improvement and meet or exceed expectations of Clients.
  • Perform cost/benefit trade-off analysis and develop ROI business cases for recommended projects involving process, system or technology change.
  • Drive refinement of labor planning tools to optimize allocation of resources across multiple locations/facilities and Clients to ensure alignment with organizational and Client goals.
  • Acts as the decision maker for realignment of positions and decisions pertaining to meeting financial goals.
  • Oversee productivity, quality, and safety standards in accordance with company needs and client requirements.
  • Drives and supports process change initiatives, projects and other continuous improvement initiatives that increase operational efficiencies
  • Manages and leads projects as assigned.
