Full Job Description
The Director of Marketing & Events will lead the design and execution of an integrated marketing portfolio that deepens member engagement, strengthens loyalty, and generates actionable market insights. This role will transform marketing and events from a tactical function into a strategic platform for deepening customer and partner relationships. The Director will oversee strategy and execution of company-hosted events and industry conferences, while leading integrated marketing efforts that drive member growth and retention. This is a portfolio leadership role with responsibility for measurable impact aligned to business objectives. The ideal candidate combines strategic judgment, cross-functional collaboration, and operational excellence to reinforce the value of UE membership for current and prospective members.

RESPONSIBILTIES:
  • Event Strategy: Build and lead a multi-year sponsorship and event strategy that drives customer satisfaction, showcases internal subject matter experts, and surfaces strategic insights. Maintain sponsorship and event playbooks that detail go-to-market plans covering tactics, communications, and key stakeholders.
  • Event Management: Ensure accountability of internal and external partners responsible for event management. Lead annual planning, including prioritization, budgeting, and cross-functional coordination. Support venue research, project schedules, sponsorship and promotional materials, vendor coordination, stakeholder communication, "day of" logistics including on-site presence, and post-event activities.
  • Member Engagement: Develop strategies to increase usage of self-service policy and claims tools, and risk management resources including reports, articles, consulting, online training, and the RMPC program. Develop re-engagement and churn mitigation strategies that achieve 70%+ digital usage and 95%+ member retention.
  • Lead-Generation: Develop acquisition strategies targeting brokers and prospects including sponsorships, advertising, and product marketing materials; collaborate with business development to ensure effective lead-qualification and conversion in support of annual new business goals.
  • Marketing Operations: Oversee day-to-day management of print and digital marketing channels including website, email, advertising, and social media.
  • Measurement/ROI: Establish clear objectives and ROI frameworks by engagement type (e.g., lead-gen, engagement/retention, and events). Ensure insights are captured, synthesized, and shared across key business functions. Track ongoing usage, engagement, satisfaction, and retention for strategic customer segments.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal teams, members, and external partners to identify promotion, engagement, and retention needs and initiate actionable solutions.
  • Leadership: Drive performance of team members through proactive coaching and mentorship.
  • Budget Management: Manage marketing, sponsorships, and event budget for effective resource allocation.
  • This position requires adherence to United Educators' cybersecurity policies and industry best practices to protect company and member data. Employees must incorporate security-conscious practices appropriate to their role into daily work and complete required security training.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Strong executive presence, with the professionalism, polish, and judgment to consistently embody the UE brand
  • Typically requires 7-10 years of marketing and event management experience with at least 5 years of people leadership
  • Demonstrated success leading complex, multi-channel marketing portfolios, long-term strategic planning, and deadline-driven execution
  • Proven ability to connect engagement strategy to business outcomes (retention, growth, and brand affinity)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach with internal and external constituents
  • Ability to travel up to 33% for on-site events and work in an office environment at least two days per week
  • General understanding of liability insurance, indirect sales models, and the education market preferred


The below annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate's work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.

Salary Range

$120,000-$140,000 USD

  • 401(k) - UE makes a 3% safe harbor non-elective contribution beginning the first of the month after date of hire; these funds are vested immediately. After one year of service, employees receive a 7% profit sharing non-elective contribution, as well as become eligible for a matched contribution of 25% of the first 5% employee deferral. Employees can make pre-tax contributions or taxed (Roth) salary reductions. Catch-up contributions for employees 50 years old and over. Employer contributions are fully vested immediately
  • Life Insurance - UE pays for Basic Life Insurance, and employees have the option to apply for additional Voluntary coverage
  • Short- and Long-Term Disability Insurance - We offer coverage in the event employees are unable to work for a period of time
  • For the first two years of employment, employees accrue PTO at 24 days per year. At the beginning of the third year of service, employees accrue 30 days per year of PTO

  • Bonus eligibility is based on salary earned and performance for the year
