Full Job Description
Duties Description The New York State Senate Majority Counsel's Office is seeking experienced candidates with broad knowledge of New York's legislative process to fill the position of Director of Legislative Operations. The Director of Legislative Operations works closely with Majority Conference members, Counsel and Finance staff and Senate Leadership to ensure the smooth operation of Senate committees and optimize the advancement of priority legislation. The responsibilities of this role include:
• Providing central staff support for the Senate Majority Conference on matters related to Senate legislative procedures and operations.
• Managing review processes, procedures, and data relevant to legislative committee operations, legislative floor operations, State Budget proposals, priority legislation, and appointments to official state positions.
• Conducting annual training sessions and providing operations support for Majority Senators' Legislative and Committee staff.
• Preparing and editing briefing materials for members of the Majority Conference.
• Assisting Senators with scheduling and preparation for committee meetings, public hearings and other meetings and events.
• Intergovernmental coordination with Assembly, Executive, Judiciary, and local government staff on matters relating to legislative operations, events, Home Rule messages, program bills, chapter amendments, bill deliveries, appointments, and confirmations.

Minimum Qualifications Strong organizational and quantitative analysis skills are required. Proficiency with the Legislative Retrieval System (LRS) and Microsoft Office suite are required, and experience with spreadsheets and/or database systems is preferred. All candidates are expected to live and work in the Capital Region of New York. Preference will be given to candidates with previous supervisory experience in a legislative office or executive agency.

Additional Comments Salary range is $110,000.00 to $120,000.00, commensurate with education and experience.
