General responsibilities

The Director of IT and EPMO is responsible for the systematic approach to managing strategic IT and EPMO related projects from scoping to implementation while advancing the project execution and delivery capabilities that deliver business value across the enterprise.

Will direct IT/EPMO resources to effectively manage day to day IT/EPMO needs and requirements. Will source and maintain proper hardware and software needs such that XGen DJB stays current and effective in IT/EPMO technologies and applications. Experience managing ERP transitions or upgrades, ideally within manufacturing or life sciences sectors. Strong knowledge of enterprise applications, infrastructure, and cloud transformation.

The Director will identify where resources are needed to support overall strategy, and complete high-priority business initiatives in a rapid, but sustainable fashion.

The incumbent must develop, then continuously improve, the people, processes, and technologies necessary to ensure the team is (a) working on the right priority initiatives, (b) applying consistent best practices to help define and move projects forward with appropriate change management, and (c) providing transparent, consistent, and easy to understand progress updates.

The Director is "hands-on" and will lead one or more projects/initiatives while overseeing the team. A key focus of the role will be providing direction and oversight to a planned transition of the company's ERP system to a cloud-based model, ensuring alignment with operational priorities and risk management standards.

Essential Duties
  1. Supports XGen DJB's Mission and Vision statement by adhering the Code Of Corporate Values and conforming to established performance expectations.
  2. Manages overall activity of the department and directly supervises assigned personnel as follows:
  1. Assists in the selection of new personnel as appropriate;
  2. Makes provisions for the proper orientation and training of new personnel;
  3. Reviews employee performance on a regularly scheduled basis;
  4. Develops recommendations for employee career planning and development and oversees process for individual skills assessment and continuing education plans;
  5. Coaches and directs personnel to ensure compliance with departmental goals, objectives and budgets;
  6. Conducts regular meetings and provides guidance and direction to personnel;
  7. Reviews employee's time records, makes any necessary corrections, obtains appropriate signatures and submits for payroll processing;
  8. Organizes, schedules, prioritizes and distributes workload among assigned personnel;
  9. Keeps personnel informed of pertinent policies and procedures affecting the department and/or their jobs; Creates an atmosphere in which upward communication from employees is encouraged;
  10. Administers personnel policies and procedures as established by company policy;
  1. Manages cost center expenses as follows:
  1. Constructs budget within prescribed guidelines;
  2. Manages expenses to stay within budget; requests and approves payments depending on level of authority;
  3. Reviews expenses on a regular basis to ensure proper recording of account expenses;
  4. Explains variances, exceptions and other impacts that occur between budget and actual expenses;
  1. Provides leadership across the enterprise in a manner which supports the mission, vision, goals, and objectives of XGen Pharmaceuticals DJB.
  2. Identify where operational resources are needed and help leverage the Executive Team to complete high-priority business initiatives in a rapid, but sustainable fashion.
  3. Oversees a portfolio of programs and non-product related projects; directs operational resources such as (project managers, business analysts and technical resources). Maintain project management standards, processes and key performance indicators; ensures the resolution of issues impeding project success; coordinate project portfolio reporting, facilitates strategic project planning, designs and implements project management training programs and strives for continuous improvement of project planning, management and execution.
  4. Develops a method for separating projects on the dimensions of urgency, cost savings and revenue creation potential. Convenes business and technology leadership to set and implement the Business Strategies agenda. Develops a comprehensive understanding of XGen DJB's business strategies to ensure appropriate business requirements are correctly prioritized and fulfilled, effective processes are designed and business and technology (infrastructure, application and security) solutions are effectively delivered.
  5. Communicates with all levels of the organization by providing details or simplifying and summarizing complex topics depending on the purpose, audience and delivery media.
  6. Leads, coaches and develops the applications staff in serving the organization by applying proven communication skills, problem-solving skills and knowledge of best practices to guide development teams on issues related to the design, development and deployment of mission-critical information and software systems
  7. Continuously explores and presents new processes, governance, technologies and best practices with the goal of improving effectiveness and efficiency.
  8. Provides consultation to strategic planning groups and user departments concerning Information Systems evaluation and development, including the development of new systems, the evaluation of existing systems or the acquisition of vendor systems to align with the defined IT strategy and architecture governance.
  9. Directs and manages activity and performance of contract IT/EPMO vendors.
  10. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

Basic Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology or related field plus ten years of Project Management and Information Systems experience

Training (licenses, programs, or certificates): PMP Certification Required

Skills: Project Management, Communication with all levels of the organization, Business Analysis, Process Design/Improvement, Program Governance, Vendor Management

Basic/Moderate/Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills;

Basic/Moderate/Proficient interpersonal relations, supervisory and communication skills, including use of English language; Sufficient skills to provide constructive criticism and performance feedback;

Basic/Moderate/Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office, Go to Meeting, etc.

Travel: Up to 10%

Manager Qualifications:

Number Supervised: 3-5, Indirectly supervises 20+ people, Manages 10+ vendors

Highest Level Managed: Professional

People Management Tasks: Hire employees, mentor and advise, promote employees, assign and evaluate work, terminate employees, review performance annually.

Experience:

Minimum: 10 years

Proficient: 15 years

Equipment:

Operate standard office equipment including phone, computer, fax, calculator, postage meter, and other office equipment.

Other Requirements

Physical Requirements: Possess sufficient manual dexterity to be able to bend, sit, stand and reach with hands and arms; Visual and auditory skills required, including close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus and ability to speak and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Compensation: Position pays between $133,000 and $176,900 when a candidate is considered proficient.
