Job Description
The Director of Insurance Solutions serves as the senior subject-matter expert for insurance and annuity solutions within the Brokerage division. This role is responsible for leading the development, delivery, and oversight of insurance-based strategies, including life, long-term care, property & casualty, business insurance, and both proprietary and non-proprietary fixed and variable annuities.
This leader partners closely with Financial Advisors, Relationship Managers, and other client-facing teams to provide expert guidance, identify client needs, and enhance the organization's capability to deliver comprehensive, risk-managed insurance solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership & Management
• Provide direct management, coaching, and professional development to the Insurance Specialist, ensuring alignment with departmental goals and regulatory expectations.
• Serve as the senior insurance authority across the Wealth and Brokerage channels, acting as a mentor, consultant, and escalation point for complex cases.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with leaders in Wealth, Retail, Commercial, and Corporate divisions to embed insurance expertise into client strategies.
• Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with Independent Marketing Organizations (IMOs), Brokerage General Agencies (BGAs), and carrier partners to expand the division's product capabilities, distribution reach, and non-interest income potential.
Product Expertise & Client Consultation
• Partner with Financial Advisors and Wealth teams to understand client goals, identify insurance needs, and develop customized solutions.
• Meet jointly with clients to provide expert, needs-based recommendations and clearly communicate product features, value, and risks.
• Oversee insurance reviews to determine product suitability, analyze regulatory and market impacts, identify risks, and pinpoint new opportunities.
Training, Education & Sales Enablement
• Lead training programs for Financial Advisors, Relationship Managers, and other bank personnel to improve understanding of insurance solutions and referral opportunities.
• Conduct educational sessions and workshops for branch employees to enhance client financial literacy and promote holistic financial planning.
• Provide coaching and field support to advisors on consultative sales practices, needs-analysis methodologies, and regulatory requirements.
Business Development & Strategy
• Develop and grow insurance-related non-interest income streams through strategic partnerships, referral program development, and expansion of the division's product and distribution capabilities.
• Drive incremental sales and promote ongoing insurance solutions for both new and existing Wealth/Brokerage clients.
• Utilize market intelligence to identify competitive gaps, service needs, and emerging opportunities; share insights with leadership to influence product strategy.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment of insurance solutions with broader wealth strategies and client experience goals.
Compliance, Risk Management & Process Excellence
• Ensure all insurance-related activities comply with regulatory standards, industry guidelines, and bank policies.
• Maintain accurate processes, procedures, and documentation in accordance with internal audit and compliance requirements.
• Support the development and maintenance of operational workflows that promote scalability, consistency, and high-quality client outcomes.
Qualifications
• Minimum of ten (10) years of working experience delivering insurance solutions to individuals required, preferably in the life and health area
• Life & Health Insurance Licenses required; advanced designations (CLU, ChFC, CFP, etc.) strongly preferred.
• Proven track record in needs-based selling and management of consultative sales processes.
• Experience working in a bank, brokerage, or wealth management environment preferred.
• Strong client-facing skills with the ability to simplify complex insurance concepts.
• Demonstrated ability to customize presentations and recommendations to individual client goals.
• Strong understanding of insurance and annuity markets, regulatory changes, and financial
industry trends.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
