JOB SUMMARY:
The Data Steward is responsible for implementing and enforcing data quality standards and for the accuracy of assigned data based on company's practices and procedures. This includes the regular review of assigned data elements such as FHLB, FRB, Collateral, and NAICS coding for new, renewed and modified commercial and business banking loans.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ensure the accuracy of assigned Critical Data Elements (CDEs).
• Develop and maintain comprehensive expertise of CDE definitions and usage, such that the Data Steward can independently and reliably make correct determinations regarding the accuracy of assigned data, based on all available external and internal guidance.
• Proactively identify quality issues, conduct root cause analysis, and collaborate with data owners to propose solutions to improve data quality for assigned CDEs.
• Assist in the development of data quality rules and reports to help identify potential data quality issues, and make accurate assessments regarding the completeness, validity, consistency, integrity, and accuracy of CDEs.
• Identify inaccurate data records, determine the correction for each inaccurate record, submit data corrections to Loan Tech Support, and verify that submissions have been corrected on the system of record.
• Regularly communicate with frontline and back-office staff on topics related to changes in coding procedures, common errors in coding, and any other information that is needed to promote increased understanding of the treatment of CDEs and that will help to improve the quality of the CDEs.
• Serve as a bank-wide resource for answering questions about how to determine correct codes for assigned CDEs.
• Identify all bank-wide parties impacted by changes to data quality procedures and communicate changes and expectations accordingly.

Qualifications
• Minimum of five (5) years' experience working in a professional Auditing, Compliance and/or Credit discipline or in a Banking Examiner role required
• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Bachelor's Degree in business management finance, information systems, or related area highly desired.
• Strong knowledge and application of industry regulatory controls and reporting required
• Experience with data management tools and applications, including process mapping and lineage toolsets highly desired
• Prior experience with quality control processes and procedures, as well as data quality concepts and best practices, and ability to effectively enforce
• Proficiency in MS Microsoft Office products is required
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to prioritize work that relates to time sensitive matters and managing workload properly
• Ability to effectively interact and ensure compliance with all levels of staff within organization
• Ability to identify and resolve situations utilizing sound judgement and decision making
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills to understand and apply complex data governance concepts

Company Profile

In Tysons, VA the expected base pay, and salary range for this role is $69,283 to $114,317. Placement within the range will be determined on an individualized basis commensurate with experience and skills and is only one part of the total compensation package. Your base salary may be subject to an annual merit increase based upon performance and, depending on the position, may be eligible for cash bonuses, long-term incentives, commissions, and other United Bank sponsored benefit programs.
