Full Job Description

Position Overview

The Director of Information Technology will own the day-to-day operation of Beale's corporate technology environment. This is a hands-on, user-facing role, working alongside our managed IT services partner and our VP of Corporate Security.

This individual will be directly responsible to establish or update cross-platform capabilities, such as Beale's identity and access management (IAM); administer our systems; manage the device fleet; maintain and evolve the productivity suite; and activate further security capabilities and controls.

Working closely with executive leadership and cross-functional business partners, the Director will keep a fast-moving company productive and secure from day-one onboarding to conference-room AV to tested backups while building the practical IT controls that support the Company's ISO 27001 and audit-readiness programs. The ideal candidate is a 'roll-up-your-sleeves' operator who has led IT evaluation, selection, and implementation in a growing company (start-up experience preferred); directly deployed and administered IAMs; fluent across Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace; and enjoys fixing things as much as planning them.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the day-to-day owner and administrator of Beale's corporate technology environment - Microsoft 365and Google Workspace tenants, identity, devices, networks, and business applications.
  • Maintain, optimize and migrate (as necessary) email, calendar, file management & sharing, chat & collaboration, etc.
  • Design, deploy, and administer Beale's identity and access management (IAM) foundation on Okta or a similar identity platform SSO/SAML and OIDC integrations across the SaaS estate, SCIM-based automated provisioning and deprovisioning, MFA with phishing-resistant factors, and role- and group-based access.
  • Configure and operate the security capabilities, including but not limited to Defender, Intune, Entra conditional access, and Purview in partnership with the VP of Corporate Security.
  • Operate identity day to day: onboard applications into SSO, maintain separated admin accounts, keep joiner-mover-leaver access timely and least-privilege, and run quarterly access reviews.
  • Manage the mixed device fleet hands-on: MDM enrollment, configuration profiles, encryption, patching, and asset inventory from purchase through retirement.
  • Run employee onboarding and offboarding end-to-end with HR and our managed IT services partner, so new hires are productive on day one and departing access is closed out the same day.
  • Direct our managed IT services partner tickets, escalations, projects, and service levels while serving directly as the escalation point.
  • Be responsible for office technology in Beale U.S. offices (networks, Wi-Fi, AV, and conference rooms) and dependable connectivity for field teams at active project sites.
  • Implement backup and recovery for cloud collaboration data, and verify that restores actually work.
  • Administer the IT and SaaS vendor portfolio: licensing, renewals, spend tracking, and rationalization of overlapping tools.
  • Build and operate the practical IT controls behind the Company's ISO 27001 and audit-readiness programs: documented processes, access reviews, change discipline, and evidence collection.
  • Strong AI fluency or willingness to become proficient to permit integration of AI into our daily work.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, or a related field preferred.
  • 8+ years of hands-on IT administration and/or engineering experience, including time as the senior (or only) IT resource in a lean, high-growth company.
  • Proven, hands-on experience deploying and administering an enterprise identity platform, Okta strongly preferred (Entra ID or similar considered): SSO/SAML and OIDC app integrations, SCIM provisioning, MFA
and adaptive access policies, and privileged account separation; Okta certification a plus.
  • Deep working expertise administering Microsoft 365 (Entra ID, Exchange Online, Intune, Defender) and Google Workspace; experience running cross-platform email and calendar migrations preferred.
  • Experience managing Mac and Windows fleets through MDM, with practical networking skills (firewalls, Wi-Fi, VLANs) for office environments.
  • Experience directing a managed services provider while staying personally accountable for outcomes and quality.
  • Familiarity with ISO 27001 and/or IT general controls and comfortable operating controls and producing audit evidence, not just writing policy.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and prioritization skills; calm under pressure and service-oriented at every level of the company.
