Full Job Description
The IT Department

The Information Technology department at Maloney Properties, Inc. delivers a full range of technology services across our management portfolio, enabling site and corporate staff to operate efficiently, securely, and in compliance with regulatory requirements. The department is responsible for the technology that supports day-to-day property operations at every site as well as the corporate functions that depend on it.

Your Role

The Director of Information Technology is a senior operational leader accountable for the reliability, security, and continuity of technology across Maloney Properties and its portfolio. Reporting to executive leadership and partnering closely with strategic technology leadership, the Director owns the delivery of IT services and leads the internal team and managed service providers that support them.

This is a pivotal moment for the department. The organization is moving from a model that has been heavily dependent on individual expertise and undocumented, tribal knowledge toward a documented, well-governed, and resilient shared-services function. The Director's central mandate is to lead that maturation: to eliminate single points of failure, formalize processes and documentation, strengthen the security and compliance posture, and re-balance the team toward proactive, strategic support of the business rather than reactive, individually dependent operations.

The Director leads a team of 9 professionals and is expected to help shape the department's structure and staffing as the operating model evolves. Success in this role is measured less by personal technical heroics and more by the Director's ability to build and lead a team, a set of processes, and a documentation base that make the department resilient, transparent, and continuously improving.

  • Demonstrated experience maturing or professionalizing an IT function - turning undocumented, individually dependent operations into documented, repeatable, well-governed processes.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft 365, Azure/Entra ID, Windows environments, and hybrid infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity, disaster recovery/business continuity, and IT risk and compliance practices.
  • Experience managing managed service providers, vendors, and service agreements, including RFPs and contract negotiation.
  • Strong budget planning, financial management, and resource management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technology in business terms, build rapport, influence stakeholders, and deliver constructive feedback.
