Director of Infection Control/Employee HealthLocation: Granville Health System, Oxford NC
Position Overview:Development and implementation of effective infection control and employee health programs throughout the health system. Supervises the practice of infection control and employee health program while developing curriculum in response to organizationally assessed needs. Serves as primary staff support for infection control information/data reported to the Patient Safety/Performance Improvement Committee. Works closely with the County Health Department in reporting required communicable diseases and problems related to outbreaks and control of communicable diseases. Acts as primary consultant for infection control issues related to construction projects as well as bioterrorism preparation. Acts as a consultant and resource to nursing and medical staff. Provides in-service and education relevant to infection control/employee health regularly. Keeps abreast of current trends and developments.

Key Responsibilities:Lead and maintain the health system-wide Infection Prevention and Control Program.
Conduct surveillance for healthcare-associated infections, communicable diseases, and other reportable conditions.
Investigate outbreaks and coordinate appropriate response and containment.
Monitor compliance with hand hygiene, isolation precautions, PPE, disinfection, environmental cleaning, and other infection prevention practices.
Conduct infection prevention rounds, audits, and risk assessments.
Develop and maintain infection prevention policies and procedures. Assists with nursing service policy and procedure development and revision.
Maintain readiness for regulatory and accreditation surveys.
Complete required infection-related reporting to regulatory and public health agencies.
Oversee and collaborate with Employee Health on employee exposures, Bloodborne pathogens, immunizations, work restrictions, and return-to-work recommendations.
Participate in construction, renovation, water management, and other projects involving infection risk.
Maintains an effective system of records and reports. Submits statistical reports to the oversight committees.
Processes information on the Center's health information system as required in performing job responsibilities.
Qualifications:Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current Registered Nurse licensure in North Carolina, with at least five (5) years of relevant clinical experience. Current certification in BCLS. Completion of state approved Infection Control course within two years of start date. Knowledge in Quality, ability to relate well to all levels of staff, management and Medical Staff. Strong, broad-based clinical knowledge a must. Knowledge of infection prevention, surveillance, isolation precautions, outbreak investigation, and healthcare-associated infection prevention. Ability to work with minimal supervision is a must.
Preferred:Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
Infection Control experience.
Board certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology (CIC), or commitment to obtain certification within 24 months.
Management experience preferred.
