The Director of Fiscal Operations provides leadership and oversight for financial operations, grants management, budgeting, and fiscal compliance. This role partners with organizational leadership to strengthen financial controls, improve operational efficiency, manage reporting requirements, and support strategic financial initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee daily fiscal operations, ensuring effective execution of accounting, budgeting, reporting, and compliance activities.
- Monitor financial deadlines, reporting requirements, and key deliverables to ensure timely completion.
- Manage grant-related financial activities, including tracking expenditures, reporting, compliance, and funding requirements.
- Develop and maintain fiscal policies, procedures, internal controls, and operational best practices.
- Partner with department leaders to improve financial processes and drive operational efficiency.
- Oversee intercompany accounting activities and serve as a liaison between operational and finance teams.
- Prepare and review financial reports, budget forecasts, and financial projections.
- Support and lead financial systems implementations, upgrades, and process improvement initiatives, including ERP/accounting software enhancements.
- Manage special projects and perform additional fiscal and operational duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, grants management, or fiscal operations.
- Experience in nonprofit accounting and working with government contracts, grants, foundations, and restricted/unrestricted funding sources preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership and project management experience, including systems implementations and process improvement initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present financial information to diverse stakeholders.
Compensation: $135,000-145,000Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
