POSITION: Director of Facilities and Engineering
DEPARTMENT: Operations
REPORTS TO: General Manager
Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Provide leadership and oversight of all arena building systems, including HVAC, BAS, electrical, plumbing, and fire/life safety systems
- Serve as the technical lead for central plant operations, including chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, pumps, and controls
- Oversee operation and optimization of the Building Automation System (BAS) and facility monitoring systems
- Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex mechanical and infrastructure issues
- Develop and manage preventative maintenance programs to ensure system reliability and performance
- Ensure facility readiness for all events, including University Basketball games, concerts, and special events
- Maintain proper environmental conditions across all arena spaces, including suites, concourses, and team areas
- Lead initiatives to improve system performance, energy efficiency, and operational reliability
- Partner on long-term infrastructure planning, capital projects, and lifecycle management of major systems
- Lead and manage facilities engineering staff, including technicians, and operators
- Establish safety committee and monthly meetings to review incidents and document per Legends SOP's.
- Manage vendor relationships, service contracts, and external engineering partners and coordination with the University Facilities Department on all building repairs and budget allocation
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, OSHA regulations, and building codes
- Support emergency response planning and lead infrastructure-related incident response
- Monitor departmental budgets, maintenance costs, and operational efficiencies

Education and/or Experience - Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 10-15 years of experience in facilities, engineering, or building operations
- Experience in large-scale commercial or complex venues such as arenas, stadiums, airports, hospitals, or entertainment facilities preferred
- Strong technical expertise in HVAC systems, central plant operations, and Building Automation Systems (BAS)
- Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and fire/life safety systems
- Experience with preventative maintenance programs, CMMS platforms, and vendor management
- Proven leadership experience managing technical teams
- Experience managing budgets, contracts, and capital projects
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
