Position Summary

The Director of Datacom Solutions is responsible for establishing Crawford Electric Supply as a leading regional distributor of datacom, structured cabling, and low-voltage products. This role will build the go-to-market team, secure key manufacturer partnerships, develop the inventory and product strategy, and recruit talent across major metros within Crawford's footprint. The ideal candidate is both a strategic builder and a hands-on operator, comfortable creating a business unit from the ground up while working cross-functionally with branch, sales, and purchasing leadership.

Team Building & Leadership
  • Recruit, hire, and develop a team of datacom sales associates across major metro markets in Crawford's 8-state territory
  • Establish training programs, sales processes, and performance metrics specific to the datacom business
  • Build a scalable organizational structure to support long-term growth of the segment

Manufacturer Relationships
  • Identify, pursue, and secure manufacturer authorizations and distribution agreements with leading datacom/low voltage manufacturers
  • Negotiate program terms, rebates, and co-op marketing support
  • Serve as the primary relationship owner for key manufacturer partners, representing Crawford at manufacturer events and business reviews

Inventory & Product Strategy
  • Design and implement a datacom inventory profile aligned to regional demand, stocking strategy, and working capital goals
  • Partner with purchasing and branch operations to determine SKU strategy, min/max levels, and distribution logistics across the territory
  • Continuously evaluate product mix against market trends and customer demand


Market & Customer Development
  • Develop and execute a go-to-market strategy targeting datacom contractors, low-voltage integrators, and end users
  • Build relationships with key contractors, integrators, engineers, and end-user accounts across the territory
  • Identify growth markets within the 8-state footprint and prioritize metro-level expansion


Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with branch managers and outside sales teams to integrate datacom offerings into existing customer relationships
  • Collaborate with marketing on positioning, collateral, and demand-generation programs
  • Report on segment performance, pipeline, and strategic initiatives to executive leadership


Qualifications & Preferred Skills
