Job Description:

Johnson & Johnson MedTech - Neurovascular is recruiting for a Director of Commercial Marketing covering North America ( Canada, U.S., LATAM) This position is located in Irvine, California. The role is on a hybrid schedule where you are on-site for 3 days a week.

Position Summary

The Commercial Marketing Director is responsible for developing and executing the commercial strategy that drives revenue growth, market adoption, and physician engagement across the product portfolio. This role partners closely with Sales, Clinical, Medical Affairs, Global Marketing, Commercial Operations, and Finance to translate business priorities into impactful commercial initiatives that accelerate business performance across the Americas.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Strategy
• Develop and execute the annual commercial marketing strategy aligned with the business plan and revenue objectives.
• Identify opportunities to accelerate growth across the product portfolio through market expansion, physician adoption, pricing strategies, and commercial programs.
• Lead portfolio prioritization and investment decisions based on market dynamics, competitive landscape, customer insights, and financial performance.
• Translate market trends into actionable commercial strategies that drive sustainable growth.
• Serve as a strategic advisor to the Business Unit Head and Sales Leadership Team.

Portfolio Management
• Own downstream marketing strategy across the entire product portfolio.
• Lead product positioning, messaging, segmentation, lifecycle management, and commercialization plans.
• Identify whitespace opportunities for new products, line extensions, and market expansion.
• Partner with Global Marketing to influence future portfolio strategy based on regional customer insights.
• Continuously evaluate product performance and implement strategies to maximize lifecycle value.

Product Launch Excellence
• Lead regional commercialization strategy for all new product launches.
• Develop launch plans including segmentation, positioning, physician education, field readiness, inventory planning, demand generation, and commercial execution.
• Ensure flawless cross-functional launch execution across Sales, Clinical, Operations, Supply Chain, Regulatory, and Global Marketing.
• Monitor launch performance and implement corrective actions when needed.

Customer & Market Development
• Develop physician adoption strategies that increase utilization and expand procedural volumes.
• Build commercial programs that drive customer acquisition, retention, and account penetration.
• Utilize customer insights, market research, physician feedback, and competitive intelligence to shape commercial strategy.
• Identify unmet customer needs and convert them into growth initiatives.
• Support key opinion leader engagement and strategic customer partnerships.

Sales Enablement
• Partner with Sales Leadership to improve commercial execution and sales effectiveness.
• Develop value propositions, sales tools, competitive messaging, objection handling resources, and promotional materials.
• Support national sales meetings, regional meetings, product training, and commercial education.
• Ensure the sales organization has the necessary tools and resources to successfully execute commercial strategies.

Commercial Programs
• Design and execute integrated marketing campaigns that drive awareness, physician adoption, and revenue growth.
• Develop customer education initiatives, digital engagement strategies, and professional education programs.
• Measure program effectiveness and optimize investments based on return on investment.

Business Analytics
• Monitor business performance using financial, commercial, and market analytics.
• Analyze revenue trends, physician utilization, market share, customer adoption, pricing performance, and competitive activity.
• Develop recommendations based on data to improve commercial performance.
• Present strategic business reviews and growth recommendations to executive leadership.

Cross-Functional Leadership
• Build strong partnerships across Sales, Clinical Education, Medical Affairs, Commercial Operations, Finance, Regulatory, Supply Chain, and Global Marketing.
• Lead cross-functional teams to successfully execute strategic initiatives.
• Influence without direct authority while aligning multiple stakeholders around common business priorities.
• Foster collaboration and accountability across the organization.

Financial Management
• Manage commercial marketing budgets and investments.
• Evaluate the financial impact of marketing initiatives and optimize spending.
• Support annual operating planning, forecasting, and long-range strategic planning.
• Ensure commercial initiatives deliver measurable business outcomes and positive return on investment.

People Leadership
• Recruit, coach, develop, and retain a high-performing commercial marketing team.
• Establish clear objectives, performance expectations, and development plans.

Qualifications

Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Life Sciences, or a related field.
• MBA or advanced business degree preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive commercial experience within the medical device, healthcare, or life sciences industry.
• Minimum of 5 years of people leadership experience.
• Proven success in downstream marketing, commercial strategy, sales leadership, or product management.
• Demonstrated experience leading product launches and commercialization initiatives.
• Strong understanding of physician-driven commercial models and healthcare markets.
• Experience partnering with Sales, Clinical, Medical Affairs, and Global Marketing.
• Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasts, and business planning.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and executive presentation skills.
• Ability to influence senior leaders and lead through collaboration.
• Willingness to travel approximately 30-40% domestically and internationally.

Preferred:
• Experience in Neurovascular, Interventional Radiology, Peripheral Vascular, Cardiology, or other physician-driven medical device markets.
• Experience supporting both capital equipment and disposable product portfolios.
• Experience in international or multi-region commercial organizations.
• Experience with commercial excellence initiatives, CRM systems, customer analytics, and market intelligence platforms.
• Experience working within highly regulated healthcare environments.
• Proven ability to successfully lead organizational transformation and change management initiatives.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company's consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).

This position is eligible to participate in the Company's long-term incentive program.

Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

Vacation -120 hours per calendar year

Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado -48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington -56 hours per calendar year

Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays -13 days per calendar year

Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year

Parental Leave - 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child

Bereavement Leave - 240 hours for an immediate family member: 40 hours for an extended family member per calendar year
