Job Description:

Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a world-renowned academic research institute of Louisiana State University, is seeking a Director of Clinical Operations in the Clinical Trials Unit.

The Director of Clinical Operations coordinates all operational and logistical processes associated with the inpatient and outpatient clinic. This includes coordination of research programs, implementing and initiating proposed clinical programs, and serving as primary contact for community-based research initiatives and networking projects.

Major Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and oversee the overall operation of the clinic.
  • Work collaboratively with members of the team (consisting of the principal investigators, research study assistants, data managers, nursing and administrative staff) in the clinic.
  • Works on the development and implementation of new employee training and orientation programs.
  • Provides status reports on the operation of the Clinical Trials Unit; ensures effective communication regarding study completion, resource utilization, study status, and quality improvement results.
  • Communicates with other members of the Clinical Trials Unit management team to ensure effective and efficient operation and continuity of research services.
  • Attends individual study meetings as requested/required.
  • Represents the Clinical Trials Unit on all committees and institutional meetings as requested.

  • Master's degree in business administration or health related field.
  • 10 or more years of experience in medical management/administration.
