Full Job Description
Position Summary:

The Director of Business Development is responsible for shaping and executing the company's growth strategy by leading sales initiatives, developing talent, and expanding market opportunities. Rather than focusing on a single service line, this role champions the full breadth of PowerTech's capabilities, uncovering opportunities across the organization and building a high-performing sales engine that adapts to evolving customer needs.

What You'll Do

Lead the Sales Organization
  • Manage the sales team's performance, development, and accountability, running regular check-ins, coaching on prospecting and deal management, and ensuring every rep understands their targets and metrics.
  • Define the reporting structure for territories, roles, and lead ownership.
  • Recognize top performers and implement improvement plans when targets are missed.

Set Strategy and Own Revenue Targets
  • Build annual, quarterly, and monthly sales plans and revenue goals aligned with company growth objectives, and own accountability for hitting them.
  • Design standardized sales processes from lead generation through post sale handoff, including playbooks, scripts, and presentation materials.
  • Define and track KPIs (lead activity, conversion rates, sales velocity) to measure performance against goals.
  • Partner with Finance on pricing, margins, discounting, and reconciling sales data, commissions, and forecasts.

Manage the Pipeline
  • Maintain a robust, accurate pipeline through proactive prospecting, networking, and referrals, ensuring CRM data integrity and timely deal progression.
  • Analyze conversion metrics to identify bottlenecks and trends, and report pipeline and forecast status to leadership.
  • Recommend training or process changes based on data driven insights

Grow Client Relationships
  • Drive client retention and account expansion, including upsell and cross sell initiatives, to strengthen and grow key accounts.
  • Represent the company at industry events and networking functions to build relationships and market visibility.
  • Partner with Project Management and Operations to ensure smooth handoffs and consistent client delivery.

Drive Lead Generation and Marketing Alignment
  • Partner with Marketing to design campaigns that generate qualified leads and support sales goals, ensuring consistent messaging across both functions.
  • Use analytics to measure campaign effectiveness and adjust go to market strategy.
  • Manage a marketing calendar aligned with the sales cycle and revenue objectives

Education, Certifications & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience) preferred; High school diploma or GED required.
  • 7+ years of progressive sales experience, including 3+ years in a sales leadership or management role.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets in a B2B environment.
  • Experience managing a sales team of comparable size and structure.
  • CRM proficiency required (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar); ServiceTitan experience a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel for client meetings and industry events.
  • Ability to pass motor vehicle record (MVR) screening and background check.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position (e.g., seated at a desk) for extended periods of time.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, handling documents, and operating office equipment (e.g., computer, phone, copier, fax).
  • Ability to move about the office to access files, supplies, office equipment, and assist visitors.
  • Clear vision and hearing required for reading documents, computer work, and communicating effectively in person and via phone.
  • Ability to speak clearly and be understood in one-on-one conversations and during phone calls.
