Full Job Description
Position Overview:

The Director of Artificial Intelligence provides institution-wide leadership for the practical, responsible, and effective use of artificial intelligence at Misericordia University. Reporting to the Executive Vice President, the Director serves as the University's primary point person for AI and works across academic and administrative areas to identify high-value opportunities, select and implement appropriate tools, coordinate resources, establish safeguards, support adoption, and measure results. The position is an implementation leader rather than a software developer. The Director works closely with Information Technology, Institutional Research, academic leadership, Finance, Human Resources, Enrollment Management, Advancement, Marketing, the Library, legal counsel, and other stakeholders to ensure AI initiatives are coordinated, secure, sustainable, mission-consistent, and focused on improving service, efficiency, student success, and institutional decision-making.

Experience:
  • At least five years of progressively responsible experience in project or program management, technology implementation, organizational innovation, business-process improvement, change management, higher-education administration, consulting, or a related area.
  • Demonstrated experience moving complex, cross-functional initiatives from concept through implementation, adoption, and evaluation.
  • Practical experience with generative AI, AI-assisted productivity tools, workflow automation, data analytics, enterprise software, or related emerging technologies.
  • Experience working with senior leaders, functional departments, technical specialists, vendors, and other stakeholders to translate organizational needs into practical solutions.
  • Higher education or experience in another complex, highly regulated service organization preferred.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, business administration, data analytics, project management, instructional technology, organizational leadership, higher-education administration, or a related field required; an equivalent combination of education and significant relevant experience may be considered.
  • Master's degree in a relevant field preferred.

Professional Credentials:
  • PMP, CAPM, Agile, Lean, Prosci, or comparable project-management, process-improvement, or change-management credential preferred but not required.
  • Ongoing professional development in artificial intelligence, data governance, privacy, security, accessibility, and emerging higher-education practices expected.
