Summary of Job Duties:
The College of Medicine(COM) at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences(UAMS) is seeking a visionary, strategic leader to serve as the Admissions and Recruiting Director. This role will oversee student recruitment and special curricular programs at the Northwest Regional Campus, including the 3-Year MD program and the new 6-Year BS/MD degree program in collaboration with the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville (UAF). The director will engage with prospective students, parents, and community partners to meet enrollment goals and ensure program success.

The ideal candidate will communicate with energy and warmth, building relationships with aspiring physicians across Arkansas. A strong focus on daily outreach via social media and personal visits to four-year colleges such as UAF, UA Fort Smith, and John Brown University in Northwest Arkansas, as well as nearby border states, two-year colleges, and select high schools in Arkansas, is essential. Cultivating connections with potential applicants, premedical advisors, and current students is central to this role.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field.
  • Five (5) years of administrative, education services, student services, and admissions experience, including two (2) years of progressive work experience in higher education and/or research.
  • Valid driver's license

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Strategic recruitment and enrollment management for multiple program tracks
  • In-depth knowledge of medical education programs and clinical partnerships
  • Excellent oral and written communication; strong public speaking and presentation skills
  • Relationship-building with diverse stakeholders (students, families, premedical advisors, colleges, community partners)
  • Social media management and digital outreach to attract applicants
  • Project management and ability to manage multiple initiatives concurrently
  • Training in curriculum administration, scheduling, and instructional support
  • Credentialing processes and coordination with clinical sites
  • Data-informed decision-making; ability to analyze enrollment trends and program outcomes
  • Budget awareness and resource management
  • Proficiency with MS Office; experience with CRM/Admissions systems; familiarity with Workday or other ERP systems is a plus
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regionally

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in education, administration, healthcare, or related field
  • Ten (10)+ years of experience coordinating education programs, administration, project/program management, healthcare, or related field


Additional Information:

Key Responsibilities:

Recruitment/Admissions Management
  • Collaborate on recruitment activities for traditional and accelerated medical program tracks at the Northwest campus College of Medicine
  • Manage the scheduling system for prospective students to arrange informational meetings and campus tours
  • Meet with prospective students to provide information about UAMS College of Medicine
  • Support recruitment and admissions by coordinating and participating in applicant interviews for all programs
  • Schedule and implement recruitment visits/events at colleges and universities in the region
  • Represent the College of Medicine at college fairs, conventions, and student recruitment events

3-Year MD Program Management
  • Administer and coordinate the 3-Year Primary Care Accelerated Medical Program
  • Coordinate student orientation, longitudinal clinic schedules, and summer clerkship placements
  • Manage student placements and onboarding at affiliated community hospitals and clinical sites, ensuring credentialing and external partner communication
  • Maintain program grade books and coordinate course/program evaluations
  • Provide teaching and academic program support for the curriculum, including classroom scheduling, technology coordination, review of instructional materials, and management of student requests
  • Schedule regular meetings with faculty and students for program overview and adaptation

6-Year BS/MD Program Management
  • Assist in the design, implementation, and management of the 6-Year MD curriculum in collaboration with internal departments and the University of Arkansas
  • Manage daily operations, logistics, and timelines to ensure successful program delivery
  • Coordinate student orientation, onboarding, clinical rotations, didactic sessions, and simulations
  • Provide academic and instructional support, including scheduling, technology coordination, teaching materials, and student requests
  • Coordinate student placements, onboarding, and credentialing at affiliated clinical sites; maintain external partner communications
  • Monitor quality of clinical and academic experiences; track attendance, evaluations, performance, and academic progress
  • Serve as primary liaison among students, faculty, administration, and clinical partners; address student concerns and facilitate effective communication
  • Coordinate faculty meetings and educational planning to support curriculum delivery and continuous program improvement
