Pay Information:

Internal Hires: Step placement and rate of pay will be determined based on applicable Rules or Union Contract Terms.

External Hires: This position starts at $147,305.60 annually. Step placement and rate of pay will be determined based on relevant experience.

Job Summary:

The Director provides strategic and operational leadership for the assigned nursing department, ensuring delivery of safe, high-quality, patient- and family-centered care. The Director is responsible for staff management, budget oversight, regulatory compliance, and achievement of departmental goals. This role partners with physicians, hospital leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes, promote professional practice, and support continuous improvement within the organization.

Highest level of decision-making authority:

Approves and enforces departmental and organizational policies, staffing models, and practice standards.

Directs resource allocation, hiring decisions, and corrective actions.

Leads departmental initiatives impacting patient outcomes, staff engagement, and financial performance.

Serves as the highest authority on nursing operations within the assigned department.

Minimum Qualifications for the position:

  • Experience Preferred: Five (5) years' standard-level licensed experience in applicable department (Ex: Registered Nurse, BH Clinician) and Two (2) years of supervisory, management, or charge experience
  • License(s) Required: Current State of Alaska Registered Nursing License or State of Alaska LCSW License for the Mental Health Unit
    • Substitution: Master's in Healthcare Administration and previous experience in specialty area
  • Certification(s) Required: BLS
