Director, Materials Management
The Director, Materials Management manages, coordinates, administers, implements and assists in the operations of CRMH Operating Room Materials Management Department in an efficient manner which meets the needs of the patients and operating room services.
  • Responsible for overseeing day to day operations as related to scorecard goals and objectives.
  • Proactively identifies and implements cost containment initiatives.
  • Coordinates resources to provide adequate staffing for department.
  • Provides administrative and resource support to both managers and leaders of Carilion Materials Management, Carilion Clinic Senior Management and CRMH ORS Management through participation at all site, departmental and requested meetings, in the form of requested reports, supply utilization analysis, economic and budget reports.
  • Develops reports, audits information for accuracy/trends and assists in the investigation and verification of variances.
  • Performs or overviews all applicable cost center operational activities including scheduling of employees, work assignments and payroll.
  • Performs line functional activities and responsibilities as requested or necessary.
  • Maintains productive, collaborative relationships with physicians, other members of the management team and pre- and post-hospital providers by providing service, management assistance and open communications.
  • Communicates appropriate information to stakeholders in an ongoing, timely, and accurate fashion.
  • Creates a safe working environment while providing opportunities to develop maximum potential.
  • Participates in the development of the CRMH ORS Materials Management Strategic Plan and Goals and Objectives. Applies strategic plans, goals and objectives utilizing benchmarks and targets and evaluates the outcome.
  • Develops, implements and successfully manages various operational activities including budget preparation, departmental customer service relationships, communication plans, policy and procedure development and enforcement, applicable regulatory compliance, and special projects.
  • Maintains and effectively manages all inventories in conjunction with Corporate Purchasing and Inventory Management. Coordinates all ORS Inventories as one unified Inventory to insure patients and departmental requirements are met.
  • Supervises the receipt and posting of all stock and non-stock purchases to the centralized ORS MMIS Inventory computer program where designated and defined within overall MM Operations.
  • Manages unique departmental computerization programs and the components that are applicable to Departmental operations.
What We Require:

Education: Bachelors degree required or 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Experience: Minimum 5 years of healthcare experience with an increased or diversified responsibility with 3 years management experience.

Licensure/Certifications/Registration: VA Drivers License and meets all Carilion Clinic Drivers Policy requirements.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated skills in Human Resources and information systems management. Demonstrated experience in analytical skills. Must be able to fulfill fundamental components essential of position. Ability to respond to patient supply emergencies in a calm and collected manner. Solid team management player both within the organization and at the site.

Compensation Range:
$118,788.80 - $190,070.40
Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
