Overview of Role:

The Director, Marketing Operations partners with the marketing leaders to operationalize their initiatives, taking the plans Marketing sets and turning them into work that is executable, compliant, measurable, and on budget.

The Director, Marketing Operations supports the Market Access team by running their materials through the promotional review committee (PRC) and handling the production and distribution behind them, owns meetings and events coordination for the commercial organization, owns budget management for marketing operations , a

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Owns marketing operational infrastructure including the promotional review committee (PRC) workflow and the content lifecycle behind it, promotional material fulfillment and warehousing, speaker program and event operations, meetings and events coordination across the commercial organization, agency and vendor management, budget management, and marketing performance reporting.
  • Partner with the marketing leaders to operationalize their initiatives. Operationalize omnichannel initiatives across email, web, digital, and field channels, including campaign build, deployment, scheduling, and the operational support behind each launch, working from the plans and content Marketing provides.
  • Own speaker program operations in support of the programs Marketing designs, including the speaker program management platform, speaker contracting workflow, and vendor management, with compliance built into the process.
  • Own events, exhibits, and sponsorship operations for the events Marketing and the field commit to, including the management platform, vendor relationships, and cross-team coordination.
  • Own promotional material fulfillment, including the warehouse and fulfillment vendor, print production, drop shipping to the field, and inventory control.
  • Lead promotional review and content operations, partnering cross-functionally with Marketing, Medical, Legal, Regulatory, Compliance, Commercial, and external agencies to ensure timely, compliant review and approval of promotional and market access materials.
  • Establish and optimize commercial operating processes, including SOPs, workflows, capacity planning, training, and performance metrics to improve efficiency, reduce rework, and accelerate time to market.
  • Oversee marketing technology and content management capabilities, serving as the business owner for platforms supporting promotional review, digital asset management, marketing automation, and commercial engagement. Partner with technology teams to define requirements, implement enhancements, and drive user adoption.
  • Develop commercial performance reporting and insights, partnering with Commercial Analytics and Sales Operations to establish KPIs, monitor performance, and support data-driven marketing and field execution.
  • Lead commercial meetings, events, and advisory board operations, overseeing planning, vendors, budgets, logistics, and execution while ensuring appropriate compliance and governance.
  • Manage marketing operations vendors and agency relationships, including strategic partner management, contracts, scopes of work, performance, and operational delivery.
  • Own marketing operations financial management, including annual budgeting, forecasting, spend tracking, vendor commitments, and financial reporting in partnership with Finance.
  • Provide strategic operational leadership across the commercial organization, identifying gaps, establishing scalable processes, managing cross-functional priorities, and ensuring activities comply with applicable regulations, company policies, and legal requirements.

Manage the end-to-end PRC process, including quality control and compliance-readiness review of promotional materials; intake, submission, version control, agenda development, meeting facilitation, approval tracking, reviewer feedback incorporation, distribution, and expiration within Veeva Vault PromoMats or equivalent systemsAll other duties as assigned

Experience, Education and Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field. MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of marketing operations, commercial operations, or commercial content operations experience within pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, or life sciences, including 2+ years of people or vendor team leadership.
  • Demonstrated expertise coordinating promotional review committee or medical, legal and regulatory review processes in a regulated pharmaceutical environment is required.
  • Hands-on experience with marketing technology platforms, Veeva Vault PromoMats or an equivalent electronic review and content management system is required.
  • Working knowledge of FDA promotional regulations and OPDP submission requirements, including Form 2253.
  • Experience writing and maintaining standard operating procedures for commercial content, and training users on them.
  • Familiarity with modular content strategy, digital asset management, and content taxonomy.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead without direct authority across Marketing, Medical, Legal, Regulatory, and agency partners.
  • Experience standing up a promotional review workflow and managing content through review, approval, distribution, and expiration.
  • Demonstrated experience planning and executing commercial meetings and events, including national sales meetings, congresses, and exhibits, with responsibility for budget and on-site execution.
  • Experience supporting a market access or payer team, including moving payer-facing materials through a promotional or medical review process.
  • Demonstrated experience owning and managing a departmental budget, including purchase order management, accruals, invoice reconciliation, and monthly variance reporting to Finance.
  • Working knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements governing pharmaceutical promotion, including Sunshine Act reporting obligations tied to speaker programs.
  • Product launch experience preferred.
  • Oncology experience preferred.

Pay Transparency

$203,000-$253,000 USD

Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor. The total compensation package for this position may also include bonus, stock, benefits and/or other applicable variable compensation.
