Your Role

Reporting to the Senior Director, Marketing Communications and Media Relations, the Director, Major Projects, sets the vision and ensures strategic alignment for high-profile initiatives - including flagship projects such as the management and promotion of the Eurovision Song Contest. In this role, you will oversee all communications, public relations, event logistics and partnerships.

As a senior decision-maker, you will play a central role in strategic and operational planning. You will provide strategic leadership to internal teams and external partners while fostering seamless, unified collaboration with CBC.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Strategic and Operational Planning: Oversee and approve master calendars for major communications campaigns and rollouts. Establish key performance indicators (KPIs), allocate budgets and manage human and technological resources while anticipating industry fluctuations.
  • Brand Visibility, Promotion and Large-Scale Logistics: Design promotional tours, major launches and media showcases across Quebec, Canada and international markets. Lead complex logistics - including transportation, security, protocol and contingency planning - to deliver a seamless experience for talent and partners.
  • Corporate Partnership Negotiation: Identify, target and negotiate strategic alliances, MOUs and complex business agreements with major broadcasters, prominent national festivals and key creative industry leaders while establishing clear governance and accountability structures.
  • Risk, Issue and Crisis Management: Continuously assess political, organizational and media risks. Develop contingency plans and serve as the primary point of contact during major live events to handle complex, unexpected situations effectively.
  • Stakeholder Relations and Industry Intelligence: Build and nurture an extensive network of key stakeholders (industry leaders, cultural associations, government bodies and international partners such as the EBU). Monitor technological innovations and evolving audience consumption trends.
  • Executive Support and Operational Management: Take full ownership of key operational initiatives and oversee day-to-day activities, enabling executive leadership to focus on overarching strategy and media relations. Ensure strict oversight and tracking of deliverables with external vendors and partners.

This is a hybrid role blending in-office and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines.

What You Bring:
  • Graduate degree (MA or graduate diploma) or bachelor's degree combined with equivalent experience in communications, public administration, marketing or business administration.
  • Ten (10) to fifteen (15) years' relevant experience in a senior management or strategic advisory role within a complex organization.
  • Deep knowledge of the creative, production and media/television sectors.
  • Fluency in both French and English (essential for seamless collaboration with CBC teams and international partners).
  • Proven ability to independently resolve complex, unprecedented issues by evaluating political, organizational and financial factors.
  • Strong negotiation skills, keen political acumen, and exceptional tact and diplomacy.
  • Flexibility to adapt to demanding production schedules and travel as required.

Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.
