Full Job Description
Position Summary:

The Director of Learning & Development leads the L&D function and oversees franchisee training and curriculum, learning content and development, learner experience, learning technology, and L&D initiatives. This role ensures the L&D experience is engaging, intuitive, scalable, and aligned with business and operational priorities.

The Director leads and develops the L&D team while building the systems, processes, and standards needed to effectively manage and maintain learning programs, content, tools, and resources. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong knowledge of learning platforms and digital learning tools, with the ability to create engaging experiences that drive learner adoption and support business results.

What a Typical Work Week Looks Like

The Director balances strategic leadership with hands-on execution-leading and developing the L&D team, partnering with Operations and cross-functional leaders on business priorities and upcoming initiatives, reviewing and advancing training and content development, managing the LMS and learning technology experience, and building repeatable systems and processes that keep programs, content, and resources current and easy to maintain. The week also includes monitoring L&D metrics and learner feedback, prioritizing work across the portfolio, solving issues, and ensuring key deliverables are executed on time and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

L&D Strategy & Leadership

  • Lead the L&D function, strategy, priorities, and roadmap aligned with business and operational needs.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the L&D team while establishing clear accountability, priorities, and execution.
  • Apply change management methodologies to effectively implement L&D initiatives and drive adoption of new learning, tools, processes, and behaviors across the organization.


Training, Content & Learner Experience

  • Oversee franchisee training and curriculum, as well as the development and ongoing management of engaging learning content and resources.
  • Ensure learning experiences are relevant, intuitive, effective, and aligned with operational standards and learner needs.


Learning Technology, Systems & Business Partnership

  • Own the LMS and learning technology experience, maximizing platform capabilities, usability, reporting, and adoption.
  • Build repeatable, scalable systems and processes to manage, maintain, update, and launch L&D programs, content, tools, and resources.
  • Partner with Operations and cross-functional leaders to support new initiatives, translate business needs into practical learning solutions, and continuously improve the L&D portfolio using data and feedback.

Education/Certifications and Work Experience Requirements:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in operations, management, Learning & Development, or a related field.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Ability to travel as needed.
