Full Job Description
We are recruiting for a Director, Inspections to join our inspections team in either Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver.

You have the following qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years of recent progressive public company accounting and audit experience at a Big Four or other national accounting firm.
  • CPA designation is required.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of IFRS and Canadian Auditing Standards; US GAAP is also an asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership and influencing skills to effect change and positive outcomes.
  • Proficiency in French is required if applying for Montreal.
  • Ability to travel, approximately up to 6 weeks per year.

What you will be doing:

As a member of a highly skilled Inspections team, the role involves:

  • Conducting inspections of audit firms (both public company audit files and the Firm's system of quality management) in accordance with CPAB's inspection methodology. This will include engaging in discussions with audit Firm's engagement teams and Firm's leadership.
  • Manage assigned inspection work effectively by meeting deadlines and executing inspections efficiently and to a high standard of quality.
  • Build and maintain professional, productive, and respectful working relationships with colleagues, audit firms, and external stakeholders, ensuring all interactions reflect positively on CPAB, reinforce its mission, and support the integrity of financial reporting.
  • Preparing high quality written inspection reports that are clear, accurate, and impactful.
  • Participating in inspection projects designed to enhance the effectiveness and continuous improvement of CPAB's inspection processes.
  • Supporting stakeholder engagement and thought leadership initiatives.
  • Travel may be required periodically throughout the year.
