Responsibilities

Full Job Description
The Opportunity: Equitable is growing! We are looking for a Director, Individual Pricing to join our Individual Product Management team!

This role will price and maintain Individual life and health products, ensuring the products are actuarially sound, offer good value to our clients, and do not put the company at long term financial risk.

The role will also provide occasional support for other projects as needed such as dividend scale updates, rate implementations, operational plan, special quotes, process improvements, and explaining quarter end results.

Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement, and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

What you'll do:

  • Pricing of all individual life and health products (universal life, renewable term, traditional par and critical illness).
  • Working with the Director, Insurance Solutions to develop competitive products aimed at the Company's target market.
  • Identifying and analyzing possible product feature enhancements to existing products
  • Working with corporate actuarial to ensure the assumptions used in any pricing initiatives are appropriate for the product features and pricing under consideration
  • Ensuring the sound interpretation and application of actuarial theories and techniques
  • Ensuring product pricing supports the long term solvency targets set by the company
  • Training, developing, motivating and effectively managing a team of actuarial staff employees
  • Managing complex projects and ensuring actuarial timelines are met
  • Presenting monthly at pricing steering to senior management


What you'll bring:

  • FSA/FCIA
  • Minimum of 5 - 10 years life insurance experience with at least 1 - 3 years in Individual Life pricing
  • Advanced knowledge of Individual Life and Health products
  • Advanced knowledge of AXIS pricing system
  • Strong negotiation and decision-making skills
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational and management skills
