Job Summary

DRS RADA Technologies located in Germantown, MD, is hiring an on-site Director of Human Resources for our fast growing business.

Job Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate human resources activities in compliance with Company philosophy, objectives and legal requirements
  • Lead the implementation of HR programs, policies, procedures and practices that focus on attracting, retaining and developing the employee base
  • Responsible for the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the Human Resources functions for the site
  • As a senior-level HR business partner, act as a resource to the business on HR topics; design and deliver HR solutions in response to various requests and needs in the areas of: employee relations, recruiting, training and development, overall administration of compensation and benefit programs; ensure compliance with legislated requirements such as EEO, wage and hour, ADA, OSHA
  • Lead the recruitment process for this fast growing site
  • Identify and analyze escalated employee relation problems and take appropriate action to correct such problems
  • Coordinate with HR Segment, Corporate and Legal on legal problems, lawsuits and compliance issues
  • Oversee the administration of the compensation and benefits programs for the Company to include pay adjustments, incentive and bonus programs
  • May oversee workers compensation claims and coordinate work with insurance carrier and Corporate staff
  • Direct and maintain various activities designed to promote and maintain a high level of employee morale
  • Lead the succession planning process implementing development programs to enhance current skills and develop new skills required for the future
  • Continually review strengths and weaknesses of senior leadership to identify specific skills required to continue in a leadership capacity as well as identification of high potential candidates for succession
  • Foster an engaged employee workforce allowing employees to provide input into decision making process affecting their jobs, units or departments
  • Develop and manage an annual budget for the department and manage expenses within established guidelines
  • Determine workforce requirements and plan for current and future needs
  • Will lead an HR staff
  • Assess staff training and development needs, coach and provide solutions
  • Serve as technical resource for staff
  • Coach and develop other less-experienced HR staff, as well as managers and supervisors
  • Lead the annual performance management process
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • May direct the work or projects of other HR staff as part of their development
  • Participate in design, development and deployment of compensation and benefit programs
  • Provide functional leadership and technical expertise to global HR team and line management
  • Represent the Company and its interests at various professional, industry and community associations to further the Company's name in the community or its positive relationship within the industry as well as identification of HR best practices


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 10 years required with a minimum of five to eight years of HR leadership experience or an equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
  • In-depth knowledge of Human Resources Policy and Employee Relations
  • General knowledge of other HR disciplines; ability to identify situations where programs/policies/procedures cut across functional areas; ability to develop and coordinate appropriate response
  • Organizational effectiveness experience required
  • Ability to identify, analyze, develop solutions and make decisions on complex or unique issues which address the Company's business needs
  • High energy level, comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with normal activities
  • Enormous level of interpersonal skills, tact, maturity and flexibility
  • Must have ability to present ideas persuasively and develop extended corporate and divisional communication vehicles
  • Special skills required: negotiation, influencing, delivering business presentations, coaching, and counseling
  • MS Office experience required in Word, Excel and PowerPoint HRIS experience required; SAP experience is a plus
  • Experience with ADP and Costpoint preferred but not required

U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.

The salary range for this position is $150,452.00-$203,111.00. This range reflects the good faith estimate of pay the employer is willing to offer at the time of posting. Several factors can influence the pay scale, including but not limited to: Federal contract labor categories and contract wage rates, collective bargaining agreements, geographic location, business considerations, scope, and responsibilities of the position, local or other applicable market conditions, and internal equity. Other factors include the candidate's qualifications such as prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education/training, and certifications. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for: annual performance-based bonuses, equity awards, and overtime pay (for non-exempt employees as applicable.
