Full Job Description
HR Director

Blumhouse is looking for an HR Director. This will be a key role on the HR team, responsible for a broad range of strategic, operational, and people-focused work across the enterprise. Responsibilities span talent acquisition, employee programs and engagement, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, and talent development. We are looking for someone who is energized by doing broad, varied work, can multi-task and work on tight deadlines, is a creative problem solver, and builds genuine relationships with employees and executives at all levels. Blumhouse is an entrepreneurial environment, so we are looking for someone who is a self-starter, resourceful, and comfortable rolling up their sleeves.

Responsibilities

HR Business Partnering, Employee Relations, & Production HR
  • Partner with and advise employees and executives on communication, performance management, organizational design, and other HR matters
  • Handle employee relations investigations across both corporate and film/TV productions, exercising discretion and sound judgment
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to employees at all levels, building relationships grounded in trust and confidentiality
  • Lead and manage annual HR processes including open enrollment and compensation cycles
  • Assist production partners on required trainings (i.e., anti-harassment, etc), EAP resources, and anonymous reporting hotlines for all film and TV productions globally
  • Manage production pipeline program - Traineeship - for film and TV productions

Employee Programs & Talent Acquisition
  • Create and maintain employee initiatives to drive retention and engagement, including speaker series, employee events, Culture Committee, and DEI strategies
  • Assist with coaching and talent development engagements
  • Recruit and hire top talent across the company

Benefits, HRIS & People Operations
  • Serve as the day-to-day point of contact with the company's benefits broker, managing ongoing questions, vendor relationships, and employee-facing communications
  • Support open enrollment planning and execution in partnership with the broker and HR leadership
  • Leverage AI and automation tools to streamline HR workflows while ensuring responsible and compliant use
  • Serve as an administrator for the company's HRIS, maintaining accurate employee data, managing system workflows (onboarding, offboarding, status changes), and generating reports to support HR and leadership decision-making
  • Identify opportunities to streamline HR processes through system optimization and partner with vendors on configuration

Requirements
  • Minimum 6 years of HR experience in either a generalist or specialist capacity
  • Entertainment industry experience preferred, but not required
  • Experience in recruiting or employee relations and investigations, including production-side ER
  • Must be proactive, highly organized, reliable, and resourceful
  • Must be able to communicate clearly, demonstrate good judgment, and build strong relationships with employees and executives
  • Ability to prioritize, manage to deadlines, and work both autonomously and as a team player
  • Comfort experimenting with AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, AI features within HRIS/ATS platforms) to improve efficiency, with good judgment about data privacy and appropriate use

  • Must be a self-starter, scrappy, and able to roll up your sleeves to get the work done
