Overview

Responsible for all aspects of the management of home care products and services.

Responsibilities

  1. Manages departmental budget
  2. Interviews, selects, hires, and retains employees, including other management positions
  3. Ensures orientation, education and training for employees and contract personnel, including current industry and clinical information and practices.
  4. Manages performance and evaluation of all staff and contract personnel, including other management positions
  5. Promotes, demotes, or transfers employees to meet organizational needs, including other management positions
  6. Executes progressive discipline up to and including termination
  7. Manages departmental productivity standards
  8. Responsible for department organizational structure and alignment to meet forecasted business needs
  9. Responsible for development, implementation and interpretation of system policies within a major organizational/functional area or the development and review of system policies within a recognized discipline
  10. Performs compliance requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  11. Approves payroll and is responsible for accurate payment of employees, including other management positions
  12. Assures meeting/exceeding of DCH mission and vision, departmental goals and 5 keys of excellence.
  13. Serves as a Home Care Leader displaying sound managerial judgment, exemplary customer service behaviors and excellent team building and people skills at all times.
  14. Supports the DCH Health System Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic objectives.
  15. Sets expectations, plans, prioritizes and manages the performance improvement process.
  16. Plans, organizes, directs and coordinates the provision of care treatment and services, while focusing on continuous improvements.
  17. Maintains knowledge and appropriately applies all applicable rules and regulations, JACHO standards as well as DCH System and Home Care specific policies and procedures and insures compliance.
  18. Maintains financial viability of all programs and services provided.
  19. Takes action on reports and recommendations of any authorized planning, regulatory, or inspection agencies.
  20. Conducts an annual agency evaluation and reports findings to administration and the professional advisory group.
  21. Ensures the accuracy of public information materials and activities.
  22. Informs administration, staff, and the professional advisory group of current organizational, community, and industry trends.
  23. Leads activities designed to effectively communicate the organization's objectives and goals.
  24. Leads activities that include long-range strategic and operational plans, service design, resource allocation and departmental policies.
  25. Creates an environment that supports the department's ability to meet or exceed goals.
  26. Insures staff communication, education, coaching and support are effective and appropriate.
  27. Insures that care, treatment and service are provided in the most cost-effective manner without compromising quality or customer satisfaction.

DCH Standards:
  • Maintains performance, patient and employee satisfaction and financial standards as outlined in the performance evaluation.
  • Performs compliance requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Must adhere to the DCH Behavioral Standards including creating positive relationships with patients/families, coworkers, colleagues and with self.
  • Requires use of electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software and intranet.
  • Must adhere to all DCH Health System policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Degree in Nursing (Bachelor's preferred) or Business/Management with at least 7 years home health experience required.
  • At least 3 years of Home Health Leadership experience required (assistant Director or higher).
  • Must have working knowledge of all aspects of home care, regulatory requirements, reimbursement systems, and daily operating system.
  • Must have experienced at least one survey as a Home Health Leader (Joint Commission, State, CHAP, etc...). Experience with Homecare Homebase preferred
  • Must have exceptional organizational, communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work in stressful situations, to interpret financial and other data and to make independent decisions.
  • Must have the ability to delegate duties and responsibilities.


Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical: Ability to tolerate prolonged periods of standing and walking. Ability to reach reasonable distance in any direction. Physical presence onsite is essential. Hearing and vision must be normal or corrected to within normal range. Able to perform the duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

Environmental: Includes exposure to human body fluids, disease, infection, lab chemicals and hazard materials and/or cleaning solutions. Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment. Requires use of electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software and intranet.

Psychological: Includes demonstrating leadership skills, delegating to team members, addressing conflict, communicating with all types of personalities, and being responsible for outcomes/results.
