JOB DESCRIPTION:

Regional Clinical Affairs Manager, Electrophysiology

The Opportunity

In Abbott's Electrophysiology (EP) business, we're advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.

The EP Regional Clinical Affairs Manager is a field-based, strategic role in the clinical research space. Key responsibilities include clinical and strategic support to the Clinical Affairs Organization, with a specific focus on BU technologies and therapy areas. This role directly impacts key clinical trial and new technology approval timelines through study acceleration and enrollment driving efforts. Specific priorities include relationship development with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), leading new clinical site launches, identifying new clinical research partners, and developing strategic plans for research partnerships within territory.

What you'll work on

  • Clinical Site Management & Enrollment: act as the primary point of contact for clinical trial sites, proactively driving patient enrollment and ensuring study milestones are met.
  • Prioritize engagements with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) to foster strong clinical research relationships. Lead efforts to increase KOL engagements across study committees, publication efforts, and congress presentations.
  • Manage multi-cultural, multi-country relationships with customers and cross-functional internal teams.
  • Illustrate exemplary collaboration with commercial leadership, and across other BUs to foster a cohesive physician clinical experience across all of Abbott.
  • Manage new site launches, ensuring smooth and efficient implementation of clinical research studies. Lead debriefs, both internally and with physician study investigators, to action early procedure experiences into improved clinical study execution.
  • Identify and develop new clinical research sites to expand the territory and support future clinical trial execution and early feasibility studies.
  • Manage day-to-day priorities, scheduling, forecasting, and strategic planning for the assigned territory.
  • Serve as lead for clinical projects collaborating as an integral member of core teams.
  • Serve as key member of cross-functional groups leading knowledge transference between clinical and commercial realms supporting BU goals (ex. new product launches)
  • Maintain competency in technical support and troubleshooting for clinical research study procedures involving Abbott BU technologies.
  • Participate in high-profile presentations, advisory boards, and special projects that enhance FCA staff productivity and contribute to Abbott's corporate goals.
  • Mentor and support FCS staff, with opportunity for direct-report management.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, biological sciences, or a related field, OR equivalent or related experience in cardiology or clinical research.
  • 9 or more years of progressively more responsible relevant clinical work experience in the cardiovascular field.
  • Recognized nationally as a leader/expert in the field.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%. May include international travel opportunities.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in engaging with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and managing clinical research sites.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to manage challenging conversations with multi-country, multi-cultural physicians and cross-functional partners.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities within a territory.
  • Leadership potential and experience in mentoring or people-management.
