About the Role:
The Director, Global Medical Training Strategy will be responsible for developing the strategic training plan and material creation for assigned therapeutic areas/products. This role will ensure the training needs for assigned products are met across all of Global Medical Affairs. The Director, Global Medical Training Strategy will ensure training plans are fully integrated with strategic and launch plans. This will be a highly strategic role that will require close collaboration across all Regions as well as with the Global Medical Strategy & Communications team, HEOR, Medical Information, and Field Medical Excellence. The Director, Global Medical Training Strategy will have subject matter expertise in training and deep understanding of assigned disease states/products.

What You'll Do:

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to create annual and updated quarterly training plans in line with Brand Planning for assigned disease states/products as well as represent Global Medical Training (GMT) at medical affairs team (MAT) meetings for assigned brands. You'll also:
  • Ensure strategic alignment with Medical Strategy & Communications, HEOR, and Field Medical on tool creation and associated training sessions.
  • Create key messages for new data aligned with Medical Strategy and ensure clarity on how the data fits into the scientific narrative. Create pivot statements for competitor data.
  • Develop therapeutic area onboarding plan and materials in collaboration with Medical Strategy, Scientific Communications, HEOR, and Regional GMT leads. Develop effective training materials aligned to the annual/quarterly training plans that support adult learning. Seek input from end users on materials and update as needed.
  • Lead GMA wide training sessions on key data, competitors, etc. Ensure learning objectives, clarity on how the training fits the overall narrative, and appropriate utilization of the data are included. Responsible for Pre/Post Congress Training sessions.
  • Track and report on training effectiveness, completion rates, and impact metrics
  • Partner across the full Global Medical Training team to ensure consistency worldwide, Regional needs are met, and skill integration is built into plans. Ensure close collaboration with Field Medical Leadership, Medical Directors, Scientific Communications, Field Medical Excellence, Clinical Development and Commercial Effectiveness to deliver high quality, strategic training plans. Partner with legal/compliance to ensure appropriateness of all materials.
  • Identify and drive innovative approaches to training and adult learning. Keep ahead of industry trends and new technology for effective learning.
  • Spend time in the field understanding customer and MSL/MOL needs and translating to training opportunities.


Who You Are:

You have a minimum of an Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, NP-C, MS) along with 8+ years of Medical Affairs in pharma/biotech experience including a minimum of 5 years of training experience. You are or you have:
  • Deep expertise in adult learning methodologies and training development required.
  • Subject matter expert in training field and ability to develop deep understanding in assigned therapeutic areas and products required.
  • Forward looking, global mindset, with continuous process improvement mentality.
  • Strong strategic thinking with ability to connect multiple components.
  • Strong leadership presence and ability to present and engage across the organization.
  • Ability to influence decision making.
  • Creative problem solver who encourages unique solutions to issues.

  • Strong understanding of regional healthcare systems and compliance environments.

Nice to have (but not required):
  • 3 + years of direct experience within Field Medical.


Where You'll Work

This is a fully remote role. It can be performed effectively from anywhere while staying connected to your Insmed team and community. Occasional travel for team meetings or events will be expected.

Travel Requirements

This role requires domestic/international travel up to 30%.

$185,000.00-252,500.00 Annual
