Job Title: Director, Global Materials and Logistics
Location: Newark, CA
Department: Procurement
Reports to: Chief Supply Chain Officer


Job Overview: Unigen is seeking a Director, Global Materials and Logistics to lead global materials movement and logistics operations, including shipping, receiving, warehousing, inventory control, kitting, reverse logistics, and transportation management. This role is responsible for improving material flow, inventory accuracy, freight performance, and logistics efficiency to support production and customer delivery. The Director will partner cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Planning, Procurement, Manufacturing, Quality, and Finance to drive operational excellence, reduce total logistics cost, and support continuous improvement initiatives. This position reports to the Chief Supply Chain Officer.
  • Lead global shipping, receiving, warehousing, kitting, and inventory control operations to ensure efficient material flow and high inventory accuracy.
  • Oversee reverse logistics, returns, remanufacturing materials, quarantine, MRB, and nonconforming material control processes.
  • Drive warehouse and material flow optimization through slotting, replenishment strategies, Kanban support, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage transportation, carrier relationships, freight spend, routing compliance, and logistics performance to improve service levels and total cost.
  • Support import/export compliance, customs coordination, freight documentation, and trade program execution.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs for inventory, logistics, warehouse performance, and freight management.
  • Lead warehouse systems and process improvements, including WMS enhancements and inventory transaction accuracy.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support production delivery, inventory health, and supply chain execution.
  • Build, develop, and lead high-performing materials and logistics teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in materials, warehousing, logistics, or supply chain management, including leadership responsibility.
  • Strong experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, inventory control, transportation, and logistics management in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with ERP/WMS systems such as Oracle, Epicor, SAP, or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Working knowledge of freight management, carrier operations, customs, and import/export compliance preferred.
  • APICS, CPM, or other supply chain certifications are a plus.
