Position Summary

This highly collaborative, forward-thinking leader is responsible for Light & Wonder’s (L&W) Corporate Communications, helping to support and strengthen the company’s reputation, culture, and business priorities as a leading cross-platform global games company.


The Director, Corporate Communications leads the development and execution of integrated internal and external communications programs that support L&W’s business priorities, corporate reputation, culture, and stakeholder engagement. Working under the direction of the SVP, Global Marketing & Communications, this role partners with senior leaders and communications stakeholders across the company to deliver clear, consistent, and compelling messaging for key audiences.


Reporting to the SVP, Global Marketing & Communications, the Director, Corporate Communications works closely with the executive team, business unit communications leads, Finance and Investor Relations, People teams, and other cross-functional partners. The role provides communications counsel, translates business priorities into effective messaging, and supports a consistent and compelling corporate narrative across internal and external audiences.


The Director is responsible for day-to-day leadership and execution of corporate communications programs, while the SVP, Global Marketing & Communications provides overall strategic direction, prioritization, and executive alignment.


Essential Job Functions:


Leadership

  • Support and build a high-performance, winning corporate culture through communications strategies and executions that support L&W’s Purpose, People, and Products.
  • Lead a small, distributed team across time zones, providing coaching and development, allocating capacity across a broad remit, and building the team’s AI capability.

Strategic Communications

  • Partner with the SVP and senior leaders to develop and execute integrated global corporate communications strategies, including key performance metrics and well-coordinated programs that reinforce the company’s business objectives.
  • Partner with Marketing and relevant business stakeholders to develop and execute social media communications as a key corporate communications pillar, ensuring alignment of messaging, timing, tone, and channel strategy.
  • Identify and utilize the best mix of communications channels, taking a proactive versus reactive approach to messaging.
  • Ensure strong messaging control by speaking with one consistent voice while maintaining a distinct brand voice.
  • Build media relations, outreach, and targeting strategies.

Hands-On Execution

  • Support and execute the L&W messaging strategy around its position as a leading cross-platform global games company.
  • Manage the master communications calendar to coordinate multiple media opportunities and projects, ensure consistency, and report progress to key stakeholders.
  • Write, edit, and distribute clear, concise, and engaging communications across internal and external audiences and formats, including email and video.
  • Embrace AI and emerging tools to improve the output and quality of a small team, including content drafting and adaptation, media and social monitoring, sentiment and share-of-voice analysis, competitive benchmarking, and workflow automation. Support company-wide AI adoption through training and communications and establish practical communications guardrails with Legal and IT in accordance with L&W policy.

Measurement

  • Track and report Corporate Communications quarterly key performance indicators (KPIs), insights, and recommendations.
  • Track and report performance across corporate communications channels, including earned, owned, internal, and social media metrics, and provide insights and recommendations to improve effectiveness.

Internal Communications

  • Own the internal communications channel architecture and calendar, quarterly Global Town Halls, and leader enablement. Establish a more strategic and visible internal communications approach that connects employees to L&W’s priorities, culture, business performance, and organizational changes.

External Communications

  • Partner closely with Investor Relations to support internal and external strategy and messaging and serve as a resource for media-related activities connected to corporate positioning and the financial markets.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Investor Relations, Tradeshow/Events, CSR, and other departments to deliver consistent, aligned, and impactful communications efforts.
  • Coordinate crisis communications activities in partnership with the SVP, Global Marketing & Communications, Legal, executive leadership, and relevant business stakeholders.

Executive Visibility

  • Lead the day-to-day execution of an Executive Visibility Program across media, speaking, social, and internal channels, ensuring consistency of message and alignment with L&W’s corporate narrative.
  • Maintain spokesperson mapping and narrative ownership by executive; manage the media and speaking opportunity pipeline; support executive social profile strategies; and develop briefing materials, talking points, and preparation plans for key appearances.
  • Partner with the SVP, Legal, Investor Relations, Marketing, and relevant business leaders to coordinate approvals, timing, channel strategy, and risk considerations.

Media Relations

  • Develop and implement the media relations plan, balancing company objectives and stakeholder needs while managing pitching and incoming press inquiries.
  • Identify media opportunities and build relationships with media, journalists, bloggers, and influencers. Maintain communications tools, including the media calendar, media contact list, and media monitoring reports.
  • Serve as a communications resource for media inquiries and coordinate responses with the SVP, Legal, Investor Relations, and designated company spokespeople.
  • Oversee the development of press coverage reports and distribution of news clips to Creators.
  • Develop and coordinate talking points and briefing materials for executive media, speaking, social, and internal communications opportunities.

AI and Emerging Technology

  • Embrace AI and emerging tools to raise the output and quality of a small team, including content drafting and adaptation across channels, media and social monitoring, sentiment and share-of-voice analysis, competitive benchmarking, and workflow automation. Support the adoption of AI through company-wide training and regular communications. Establish practical guardrails for AI use in communications in partnership with Legal and IT, consistent with L&W policy.

Qualifications

Education: 


Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, Communications, Marketing, Political Science, or a related field.

 

Required Experience:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications, public relations, internal communications, media relations, or a related field, including a proven track record of delivering impactful internal and external communications.
  • Significant experience in positively handling high-profile communications issues, demonstrating sound judgment, and persuasive counseling to senior management.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills and are comfortable conceiving, writing, and editing messaging in a variety of formats. This includes materials such as speeches, scripts, op-eds, news articles, books, digital content, or other strategic messaging documents.
  • Experience leading, developing, and motivating communications professionals, as well as building effective partnerships across a complex organization.  

 

Preferred Experience: 

  • Previous experience in games, real-money and/or free-to-play
  • Marketing and branding experience
  • Strong record of nurturing positive relationships with senior editors and reporters of domestic and international news organizations and be able to develop and nurture relationships with front-line and senior management.
  • Previous experience in political campaign communications and/or in a public information role
  • Demonstrated, hands-on use of AI tools in a communications function, with examples of measurable improvements in efficiency, quality, or team output.

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 

  • Strong experience developing and executing corporate communications strategies, executions, and processes – both external and internal.
  • Has managed a process of receiving and incorporating stakeholder feedback; is comfortable with an iterative process throughout the organization.
  • Keen business acumen including knowledge of Financial Reporting, Corporate Communications, Brand Marketing, Publicity, Promotion, and Public Relations.
  • Authentic leader with impeccable integrity whose personal and professional values are consistent with L&W’s core values, especially diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Able to build credibility with senior leaders and influence outcomes through sound communications counsel.
