Full Job Description
The Financial Research and New Product Development (Fin RPD) team serves as the technical engine for our interest rate offerings, focusing on the intersection of market structure, macroeconomic shifts, and product engineering. This is a historic period for the fixed-income markets, and we are seeking a Director to lead our research efforts during an era of unprecedented change.

We continue to scale the world's primary benchmarks through the massive liquidity of Treasury and SOFR futures as well as their expansive options complexes. Your work will ensure they remain the most efficient tools for participants navigating a volatile policy environment. By mastering both the futures and the sophisticated volatility strategies inherent in the options markets, you will help our clients understand the deep relationship between these core benchmarks and the broader interest rate complex.

Simultaneously, we are currently building the infrastructure for the future of the marketplace as the SEC's central clearing mandate for the U.S. Treasuries and Repos take effect through the launch of CME Securities Clearing.

We are also expanding into credit markets by introducing maturity-bucketed credit futures that allow participants to target granular segments of the corporate bond market. This focus on pioneering new clearing and credit services positions our team at the center of a generational shift in how global markets function and manage risk.

As a Director within Fin RPD, you will act as an expert of the interest rate and credit ecosystems, driving strategy across Treasury and SOFR futures and options while leading the growth of our credit futures suite. Beyond the technical construction of products, you will serve as a premier data storyteller, transforming complex market activity and options volatility into high-impact publications, visualizations, and video content. By bridging the gap between product innovation and real-world market activity, you will help steer the largest asset class at CME Group through a period of record-breaking growth and high-stakes policy action.

Business Need:

As our global product footprint expands, there is a critical need for a strategic leader to align our sophisticated research output with the rapidly evolving demands of the marketplace. You will act as a key advisor to leadership, navigating the intersection of accelerating business requirements and the complex needs of our diverse client base. In this role, you will be responsible for optimizing our intellectual capital to ensure the seamless execution of high-impact research and product initiatives across the interest rate and credit spectrum.

By synthesizing efforts across multiple interest rate asset classes, including Treasury and SOFR complexes as well as our expanding credit suite, you will identify and leverage cross-promotional opportunities that amplify the reach of our benchmarks and clearing services. Your ability to integrate best practices across the organization will be essential in scaling our operations and ensuring that every output reflects the gold standard of CME Group expertise while meeting the rigorous delivery timelines of a world-class marketplace.

Responsibilities:
  • Research, design and develop risk management products for listed interest rates products business line management (BLM). This includes understanding and validating client needs, defining product offerings and specification and product modifications to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Identify, coordinating connectivity to the listed rates, OTC derivatives and OTC cash businesses.
  • Develop research themes and author content to support CME Group businesses including analysis, data acquisition and visualization, submission of written internal and external research educational material. Where necessary coordinate with marketing, legal, sales and corporate communications to ensure consistent theme and client reach.
  • Support and extend client-facing analytical tools, reports and data offerings.
  • Ensure product offerings, services and modifications meet regulatory requirements and client needs.

Qualification:
  • Knowledge of CME listed interest rate products, ecosystem, and product workings.
  • Deep understanding of cash treasury, money markets, repo and credit market.
  • Proven ability to publish research content.
  • Demonstrated ability to project management across multiple timelines, deliveries, and project teams with a high level of collaboration.
  • Interest and ability to work across asset classes especially Equity Indexes and Crypto markets.
  • Undergraduate degrees include mathematics, finance, economics, computer science with higher level education preferred.
  • Greater than 5 years of relevant work experience.
