Job Summary: The Director of Financial Affairs II oversees all accounting and budgeting activities for assigned area(s) with a significantly larger size and budget. Ensures application of accounting principles, practices, and techniques in accordance with industry standards, current laws, and University policy. Manages resources of assigned area(s) to accomplish goals and objectives. Supervises accounting and other staff. Provides guidance and direction to staff in assigned area(s).
Additional Department Summary: Provides strategic leadership and oversight for the financial operations of the Office of Academic Affairs and assigned units, ensuring effective stewardship of University resources through sound fiscal management, budget planning, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance. Serves as a principal advisor to the Provost and academic leadership on budget strategy, resource allocation, funding priorities, and the financial impact of operational and strategic initiatives. Directs all aspects of financial administration, including accounting, budget development, forecasting, financial analysis, and fund management across multiple funding sources. Leads the preparation, monitoring, and reconciliation of annual operating budgets and long-range financial plans to align resources with institutional goals and academic priorities. Evaluates and enhances business processes, implements financial and operational improvements, and develops internal controls and procedures to ensure compliance with University, Finance and Operations, and Academic Affairs policies.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related financial field and eight (8) years of accounting experience; OR Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and six (6) years of accounting experience.

Proficient in advanced spreadsheet and database operations. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze and interpret complex data to develop financial models and prepare comprehensive reports.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in accounting or closely related field and/or CPA. Extensive leadership experience with direct supervisory responsibility within an academic unit. Proven success partnering with senior leadership to oversee financial operations, develop budgets, and support strategic planning initiatives. Experience with University's accounting, financial, and purchasing policies and procedures. Some experience using PageUp, Banner, and Concur.
