Job Summary
Provides strategic technical oversight and leadership for complex DoD ammunition production programs. This role ensures end0end technical excellence across business capture, production support, ballistic test validation, continuous improvement initiatives, and design and development activities. The Director is accountable for delivering compliant, on0schedule products while resolving technical challenges to maintain safety, quality, and all contractual requirements. In addition, this position delivers advanced technical support for high0visibility program efforts by developing, applying, and guiding the use of sophisticated engineering theories, methodologies, and research techniques. Essential Functions
  • Manages the engineering function of an organization, including duties associated with planning engineering programs, reviewing design and method recommendations, purchasing equipment, and ensuring that engineering activities align with organizational objectives.
  • Administers operations in accordance with company's policies, priorities, and budget constraints set forth by senior management.
  • Implements effective engineering methods and provides technical guidance and acts as a resource for engineers.
  • Ensures components, materials, and tools are used to capacity.
  • Leads and directs the work of other employees and has responsibility for personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination with concurrence from HR & General Managers.
    • Required Qualifications
      • Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 8-10 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
      • Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
      Preferred Qualifications
      • Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Technology or Chemical Engineering.
      • Discipline/Major: Manufacturing, Business or Engineering preferred
      • Knowledge, skills & abilities: Leadership skills. Ability to foster teamwork. Oral and written communication skills. Ability to identify and seek needed information/research skills. Technical expertise.
      • Experience within chemical manufacturing and/or the defense industry highly desired.
      • Experience in energetic materials field.
      • Strong engineering skills and understanding of the design and composition of most existing products and engineering/business processes and principles.
      Physical Requirements
      • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
      • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
      • May need to stand for long periods of time.
      • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
      • Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
